For our Business Unit Advanced Surgery, we are currently seeking a

Research Scientist (f/m/d) based in Vienna.

As a Research Scientist (f/m/d) you plan, conduct, and oversee research activities within teams of internal and external collaborators to develop new products and support on-market products for the Advanced Surgery business segment. 

Products in this segment address surgical wound care and management, with a focus on hemostasis, tissue sealing, and adhesion prevention. 

Your Role:

  • Uses advanced technical knowledge to lead and participate in activities related to new product development and support of on-market products. 
  • Provides broad knowledge/practices within several related fields or disciplines.
  • Integrates and applies information from various disciplines to solve complex problems, often requiring innovative techniques. 
  • Assesses technologies and innovations for technical and commercial suitability. 
  • Understands regulatory and quality requirements for product development and product support.
  • Supervises activities of technical teams internal to Baxter and at external contract laboratories to meet project objectives and timelines.
  • Works well independently and in team environments and provides clear and timely progress updates.

Your Profile:

  • PhD degree or Master’s degree (Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields) plus a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated record of scientific and technical achievement in terms of publications, presentations at scientific congresses, and/or patents. 
  • Background and expertise with respect to implantable materials - in particular, biocompatible polymers - is strongly preferred. 
  • Adept at planning experimental programs, developing solutions, and making recommendations based on analysis.  
  • Willing to participate & contribute to efforts beyond one’s own scope of responsibilities. Motivated to positively impact the healthcare industry and ultimately patient’s lives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German.

The remuneration corresponds to the respective classification according to the Collective Agreement for the Chemical Industry. The minimum salary for this position is 60.000,-- euros based on full-time employment. Any corresponding overpayment depends on relevant professional experience and/or qualifications.
