Senior Analyst – Customs & Trade Compliance, EMEA

Role summary

You will be responsible for providing expert analysis and guidance on trade and customs-related matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving process improvements to optimize trade operations. You will also proactively coordinate and monitor import and export compliance with International Trade, Customs, and Government Agency Laws and regulations to minimise the risk of penalties and fines through non-compliance.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and support to stakeholders on trade and customs-related matters.
  • Manage compliance gap analysis and remediation
  • Drives standardization of import/export processes and internal control procedures (incl. Draft of local SOP/procedures for trade compliance & customs activities)
  • Understanding Non-Preferential Origin of Products that determines the need for legalization and/or issuance of a Certificate of Origin (COO).
  • Deploy internal process to gather corresponding proofs of origin and maintain a high standard of compliance with non-preferential rules of origin
  •  Responsible for monthly reports on the origin determination

Required skills and experience:

  • A few years’ experience in trade and customs, Import /Export laws and regulations, and Customs formalities with a focus on analysis and compliance (in matrix, international organization is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Country-of-origin determination and Harmonize System (commodity codes) determination
  • Proficiency in trade data analysis tools and software - Microsoft Excel user, SharePoint competence, familiarity with ERP systems (JDE)
  • Proficient in English (mandatory); fluent in German (highly beneficial)
  • Proficiency in trade data analysis tools and software. able to optimize existing processes and bring in new ideas.
  • Experienced in working within a regulated environment
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, take direction, receive feedback, and execute accordingly

In this role, you will work closely with the Trade Compliance Team and with local operations (Logistics, Planning & Manufacturing) to seamlessly integrate Global Trade activities into the overall operation and provide guidance and support to other departments on classification-related matters.
