We have an exciting opportunity to join our Baxter, Thetford plant on an Engineering Apprenticeship. You will learn how to control and maintain site production equipment and understand the process behind how we make our life sustaining and saving products.
During this 4 year Apprenticeship programme, the first 6 months will be solely based at the engineering college, building your core engineering skills and setting you up for the rest of your apprenticeship, after the first 6 months you will be attending learning sessions at college on day release, you will gain hands on operational experience by assisting the Engineering Team in many areas including supporting planned preventative maintenance plans and carrying out reactive repair and improvement on equipment, whilst complying with Baxter policies, procedures and Safety regulations. Successful completion of this apprenticeship will provide you with a Level 3 qualification. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Maintenance, Utilities & Automation teams giving you the skills and experience to become a fully qualified Engineer. Your working week will be working 1 day release and 4x 8-hour day shifts to allow you to see all scenarios within maintenance.
A typical day on site starts with a shift handover and briefing to bring you up to speed with your priorities for the day. You will have the opportunity to work across various areas of the factory monitoring and maintaining production equipment, supporting the site utilities team and learning the process of solution production. In the latter stages of your apprenticeship you will also have the opportunity to work with our software specialists . With the support of your manager, you will learn how to put into practice the technical and practical skills you have gained to identify potential issues, make decisions, and solve problems to ensure continued production of the facility.
As you progress through your apprenticeship you will support the Engineering team to:
Carry out all planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment
Raise corrective and reactive maintenance dockets on Maximo
Completing tasks as requested by Shift Engineering Team Leader
Update stores systems to ensure adequate stock remains available
Review planned and preventative maintenance procedures and suggest improvements
Escalate issues and concerns promptly and accordingly
What do we need from you?
GCSE’s including Maths, English and Science (Grade C or Grade 4 & above or equivalent)
A clear desire to begin a career in Engineering
Enthusiastic approach and driven to learn new skills
Adheres to instructions, policies and procedures to ensure safety and compliance of yourself and others
What happens after you apply?
You will complete a hirevue interview via video/written assessment which acts as a 1st stage interview
We will also ask you to remotely complete a series of ability assessments
If successful in the above you will then be invited to attend a recruitment day, practical assessment, group activities and 121 interview.
