We have an excellent opportunity for strong leader to be involved in the new project with the $40m grant-to invest in the expansion of our Baxter ANZ manufacturing plant in Old Toongabbie.Together, Baxter and the Australian Government, are each investing $20 million to build on our proud history in Australia of over 50 years, doubling down on our commitment to build an even stronger supply of Australian-made intravenous and irrigation fluids.

Your Role:

Support the Toongabbie Manufacturing facility in achieving tactical and strategic goals through:

  • Development and execution of the strategic roadmap for Toongabbie engineering across the areas of capital expenditure, engineering/maintenance systems, process improvements, and technical people capability uplift.

Day-to-day leadership of the engineering teams in:

  • Production process equipment maintenance and reliability improvement

  • Build and motivate teams to deliver SQDCP outcomes through engineering functions.

  • Assess, develop, and manage top talent to engage and retain team members.

  • Identify key strengths and skill gaps within the talent pipeline. Lead, motivate, and mentor direct reports.

  • Foster a culture of compliance with Environment, Health & Safety requirements and a zero-harm workplace.

  • Drive a Right First Time culture in collaboration with the Quality function.

  • Identify, evaluate, and deliver projects to ensure plant capacity and efficiency align with business strategy.

  • Improve engineering, maintenance, and utilities expenses for efficient cost/benefit.

  • Lead the plant capital program for efficient cost/benefit and timely achievement delivery.

  • Embed Lean Manufacturing culture by championing, implementing, and sustaining Baxter Operating System (BOS).

  • Foster a positive work environment where employees feel motivated and recognized for their achievements!

  • Manage key people metrics to ensure financial and training targets are achieved.

  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and across departments.

  • Identify training and development needs within the team, providing opportunities for growth and succession.

  • Collaborate regularly with Manufacturing SLT members on functional and customer-related matters.

  • Manage the engineering function to deliver continuously improving asset performance for all manufacturing equipment, facilities, and systems.

  • Ensure products are produced and stored according to appropriate documentation to acquire the required quality.

  • Approve production operation instructions and ensure their strict implementation.

  • Ensure production records are evaluated and signed by an authorized person.

  • Lead and support the Engineering and Maintenance team in culture and engagement activities including Best Place to Work survey. Build action plans and related activities to increase employee engagement.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering fields, Robotics, Automation

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Maintenance or Engineering function(s) and 4 years’ experience in a production management position

  • Proven ability in assessing, developing, and managing talent to benefit professional growth and meet business objectives

  • Experience in FDA/TGA highly regulated environments, high-volume manufacturing of fluid-based products, plastics manufacturing, biologics/chemical manufacturing processes

  • Leading a large cultural transformation

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of GMP

  • Excellent communication skills and collaborator management

  • Ability to lead large-scale capital projects
