Director, Fulfillment & Customer Service ANZ

Position Summary

Provide overall leadership to the ANZ supply chain organization under the global Fulfillment and Customer Service organization supporting $900M in sales and over 150 team members. Represent the ANZ Fulfillment team including fulfillment/deliver as the strategic partner to ANZ commercial leadership. The individual must lead and influence cross functionally across the Fulfillment organization to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives anticipating business needs, allocating resources, improving operational processes and supporting critical strategic initiatives.

The individual is directly responsible for all Fulfillment operations in ANZ covering customer service, warehousing, distribution, import operations, and ward delivery / value added services and across all business segments including Pharmaceuticals, Medical Products and Therapies, and Healthcare Systems and Technologies.  The role is accountable for supply chain cost, customer service levels, safety and execution of quality standards. This role will provide leadership for the local market planning team and work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure full alignment and clear communication across the end-to-end supply chain.

Responsible to deploy and execute the ANZ fulfillment/integrated supply chain strategy that best delivers customer value and overall profitability of the business. Build capabilities to drive process standardization and continuous improvements. Continuously develop and upgrade talent to meet growing demands of business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Compliance: Accountable and responsible to ensure compliance to relevant local/global regulations and internal Baxter policies including internal operations and third-party interactions for import, warehousing, distribution, and customer service.
  • Safety: Accountable and responsible to build a culture of safety and ensure safety of all team members as a priority within the ANZ functional team.
  • Strategy: Define, deploy, and execute an aligned ANZ planning and fulfillment strategy in line with the globally defined strategy. Shape priorities leveraging a data/fact-based approach as the strategic supply chain partner to Australia/New Zealand commercial leadership and deliver the best customer value for Baxter.
  • Operations: Lead the customer service and fulfillment teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost targets. Provide leadership to planning and engage with manufacturing to ensure alignment of objectives and achievement of expected outcomes. Champion operational excellence to meet/exceed global benchmarks for Lean/BOS and cost improvement.
  • People: Provide impactful leadership to the team and build a culture of agility, empowerment, accountability, data driven decision making and continuous improvement. Identify, retain and grow supply chain talent to ensure a robust pipeline across multiple layers of the organization.
  • Lead the management of supply risks amongst uncertainty and uncontrollable issues stemming from a dynamic external environment. Drive communication to relevant parties and support mitigation actions under responsibility of the function. 
  • Regularly engage with senior management on matters concerning functional areas and/or customers operations.  Interact with other supply chain leaders and technology groups globally to identify improvement opportunities for implementation.
  • Own and manage third party relationships within the scope to achieve cost and service expectations.
  • Ideate and/or support digital/automation initiatives to improve processes and business outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field required. Graduate degree (MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in supply chain function(s), including Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Fulfillment, Customer Service and 3 years’ experience directly managing a multi-layer organization.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and cost center ownership.
  • Experience managing complicated budgets across logistics and customer service that are at least $50M annually or complex networks of multiple warehouses, transportation modes and businesses requiring unique logistics and customer service solutions.
  • Experience leading significant complex transformation initiatives and or key programs that can reach $10M or higher per initiative in cost.

  • Assessing, developing and managing talent to benefit professional growth and meet business objectives.

  • Healthcare/pharma experience or similar experience with highly regulated, quality focused industry
  • Performing within a large, matrixed, global supply chain organization required.
