The PDM Technician, Maintenance - Reliability is a Salaried Non-Exempt position which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant manufacturing equipment and facility equipment through predictive maintenance, hands on maintenance and maintenance related initiatives.

What you'll be doing

  • Assists Level 2 Technicians with PDM route creation.
  • Collects and Analyzes data on PDM routes. (Thermal, Vibration, Ultrasonic, Ultrasonic Lubrication, Oil Analysis, Motor Circuit Analysis, Air Leak and Steam Trap Testing)
  • Assist with Analysis of machine failures for root cause and suggesting corrective actions. Using some of the following software: AWS Monitron, UE Systems Spectralzer and Ultratrend DM6, Emerson AMS 2140, Fluke SmartView, V-Sage Armstrong SAGE
  • Execution of proactive maintenance strategies for equipment inspection with focus on equipment lubrication.
  • Provide technical training for registered apprentices while on assignment in Reliability Department
  • Collect cost information and failure data to support Value improvement and Cost avoidance reports.
  • Use predictive tools to help manufacturing or facilities maintenance trouble-shoot emergent equipment issues.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings
  • Learn, understand, and apply meticulous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • This position involves working around moving equipment.
  • Can include working in a Class I, Class II, Class III, or Class IV Controlled Environment which may include the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, hairnet, beard cover, isolation mask, gown, hood, boots or shoe covers, face shield, insulated gloves, and disposable gloves.
  • Safety shoes required.
  • Work in Arc Flash Hazard Category 0, 1, and 2 requiring F/R uniform and Arc Flash gloves.

What you'll bring

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • A.A.S in related curriculum or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical systems repair, industrial maintenance or equivalent is required
  • Level 1 PDM certification in one or more of the following technologies: (If no Certification, will be required to complete within 1 year of receiving position) Vibration Analysis (VCA TI), IR Thermography (LVLI) or Ultrasonic Testing (LVLI)
  • Attention to detail, good problem solving, and analytical skills required. Ability to identify patterns in data or observations
  • Customer orientation, collaboration skills and the ability to actively commit to, support and participate in continuous improvement activities are vital for success in this position.
  • Well organized
  • Self-motivated to achieve goals and require little supervision
  • Must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform corrective, preventive, predictive, improvement tasks and projects on industrial assets and systems to develop proven PDM job plans.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Office computer software
  • Maximo CMMS
  • Optimally present information one-on-one and in small groups
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members
  • The position requires the ability to individually lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance.
  • Normal visual acuity is necessary including the ability to distinguish colors.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $56,000 - $77,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
