ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the Process Maintenance Team within the assigned area

  • Supervise Process Maintenance employees

  • Actively participates on the definition of necessary skills for maintenance resources and supports the process to insure skills development to appropriate levels.

  • Actively participates on the selection of contingent workers as necessary to support manufacturing and engineering goals.

  • Organize maintenance technician resources to maximize productivity across all shifts.

  • Oversee outside vendors for execution of maintenance work.

  • Communicates effectively with contractors and service providers.

  • Develop maintenance procedures for the equipment and insures conformance

  • Develop maintenance schedules and enforce them among direct reports.

  • Implements workplace safety policies and standards and insures they are sustained.

  • Coordinate maintenance work with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS.

  • Assure compliance to Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.

  • Promptly report environmental, heath, and safety incidents to the EHS Manager.

  • Ensure that process equipment and areas are kept in clean and hygienic condition.

  • Carry out inspections of the processing areas and equipment to identify and resolve issues to ensure equipment and work process compliance is sustained.

  • Track equipment downtime. Identify areas for improvement.

  • Lead manufacturing equipment improvement work.

  • Available for call-in to respond to emergency calls for maintenance.

  • Perform troubleshooting to solve repair issues.

  • Ensures the creation of required spare parts in the MMS system.

  • Monitors for proper spare parts inventory levels in the MMS system and Stock Room.

  • Evaluates and implements part changes due to obsolescence or improved design.

  • Assist in preparation of the annual expense budget.

  • Monitor expenses and control to the maintenance and department budgets relevant to the assigned area.

  • Maintain maintenance records and report on daily activities in assigned areas.

  • Capital and Value Improvement Projects.

  • Owns assigned equipment improvement projects.

  • Manage assigned projects to deliver scope of work on schedule and in budget following corporate and site standard work processes.

  • Supports Value Improvement Projects in areas of responsibility or as designated.

  • Learn, understand, and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

  • Manages all new or existing Process Improvement related to maintenance activities.

  • Provides expertise in simplification of maintenance task and maintenance standardized work.

  • Lead and oversee the timely and successful completion of the Baxter Lean Maintenance Program goals, internal and external.

  • Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis to identify areas for improvement including process redesign, workflow alignments and adjustment, and elimination of redundant and unnecessary tasks to create safe, standard, and effective action plans.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing leaders and Maintenance teams to deliver results.

  • Work with management to identify new process improvement opportunities in the areas of quality, cost, performance, and preventive and predictive maintenance.

  • Evaluate and analyze current process improvement opportunities in the areas requiring improvements.

  • Analyze and identify opportunities to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance.

  • Develop process improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and productivity.

  • May assist in manufacturing engineering projects as needed.

  • Facilitate the deployment of new and changed processes to provide improved results.

  • Maintain Baxter’s commitment to high standards for compliance, enthusiasm, and business integrity.

  • Consistent improvement of financial areas.

  • Able to work with many projects and handle multiple tasks at the same time.

  • Able to work Holidays, extra hours, or any shift when required (e. g Shutdowns, external audits-FDA, ISO 9002, Corporate-, special projects).

  • Willing to travel.

  • Must keep the work area clean and in order conditions.

General

  • Represent the site on corporate teams and initiatives as assigned.

  • Perform administrative tasks as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in engineering or related technical field. Experience in maintenance, design, and project engineering in medical devices or pharmaceutical industries. Knowledge of AutoCAD, MAXIMO, machine control systems- Water for Injection, Steam Production, Primary and Backup Electric Power, Cooling Water, Chilled Water, Compressed Air, Nitrogen, HVAC – Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning, and Wastewater Pretreatment and COGEN System

  • Five (5) years minimum experience in an industrial environment, preferably cGMP.

  • Three (3) years minimum experience supervising production utilities maintenance.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
