Summary:

Reporting to the CIO, the Global Vice President of IT - Commercial Technology is a strategic leadership role with a remit that includes Sales, Services, Marketing, Communications and Product Development.  This role works closely with IT segment and business leaders to co-develop, communicate, and implement strategies and technology roadmaps that support strategic business goals while advancing simplification and standardization. In this role you will architect the design, implementation, and management of standard and secure IT systems that enhance sales, marketing, new product development, customer engagement, and regulatory compliance, while using the benefits of integration across segments to manage portfolio health, ensure initiatives are supporting daily operations and deliver capabilities that meet broad enterprise goals and drive value. Through your efforts to advance our technology roadmaps, you will be accountable for a portfolio of solutions, vendor selection, relationships and contracts. Your management of the financials across the portfolio will help improve sustained profitable growth company wide.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and implement technology strategy that supports commercial growth objectives and collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize work based on value

  • Ensure key partners receive effective communication regarding key portfolio level initiatives and priorities.

  • Influence functional commercial and product development strategy to promote capabilities that support strategic themes and achieve stability, quality, and development velocity.

  • Align with commercial, R&D, and functional IT peers to manage application rationalization and solution lifecycle management to best support the portfolio strategy, freeing up resources to support innovation, product lifecycle management and SG&A targets.

  • Provide clear visibility to roadmaps and plans to meet IT demands, working with business leaders and the IT organization to ensure any new requirements are well defined and efficiently assembled.

  • Drive strategic IT communications between business owners and IT Leadership through reporting of portfolio oversight and capacity management while proactively identifying, communicating and championing opportunities to converge existing solutions to a standard that benefits enterprise wide.

  • Play a supporting senior leadership role in driving the utilization of data, analytics and AI across functions in support of value driven insights and improved productivity.

  • Lead inclusively to build and develop talent to meet the evolving intersection of enterprise demand and roles and skills critical to future technology.

  • Assess applicability and readiness of new technology solutions and influence suppliers to develop solutions to meet our needs

  • Ensure products and solutions meet or exceed federal, state and international standards

  • Mature and influence the enterprise and IT operating models and application delivery and support services to ensure teams are productive and focused on velocity with a clear articulation of objectives, direction and service expectations.

  • Build relationships with key leaders across the enterprise to align milestones and transformative opportunities to drive continuity

What you'll bring:

  • 15 years of progressive application development/maintenance and/or project/program management experience. Preferably experience working in multiple regions/countries.

  • Minimum of 10 years in a significant managerial role

  • Technical and business support of commercial or regional IT

  • Demonstrated success driving the development, implementation, support, and upgrading of large enterprise platforms. E.g., JDE or Salesforce

  • Experience with project/product and portfolio level Agile methodologies

  • Demonstrated success leading in a complex matrix environment with direct and indirect resources geographically distributed

  • Experience managing a robust IT budget and corresponding vendor strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong teams; recruit top talent and develop colleagues of all levels

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and to deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management and actively participate on senior leadership teams

  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing the concurrent delivery of multiple programs across multiple functions and business groups

  • Experience in identifying and applying innovative ideas to business problems and driving them through the development stage to implementation and successful adoption

  • Strong eye for business with understanding of regional market differentiation, finance, budgeting, forecasting, and business management.

  • Experience in managing and influencing vendors and consultants

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, or a related field, with an MBA or advanced degree being preferred.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $296,000-407,000 USD annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
