Your role at Baxter

Function as Product Design Owner for changes in manufacturing process. Member of the Leadership Team in the manufacturing plant. Proactively prioritizes and balance utilization of resources and provides technical direction to staff. Applies solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of subject areas to handle sophisticated projects or programs within boundaries of quality, time, and budget. Acknowledged in the plant for input on programs of some magnitude. Exhibits creativity and innovation in completing responsibilities. Leads a team of R&D Engineers, based in the manufacturing facility, in support of the global R&D team to develop and maintain the disposables portfolio.

What you will be doing

Function as R&D Liaison with Plant Leadership Team ensuring alignment between R&D and Plant.Function as (and develop locally) Product Design Owner (PDO), as well as, the Product Risk Management Owner (PRMO).

Responsible for minimizing risks associated with the product by implementing effective mitigation strategies and maintaining comprehensive risk documentation. Responsible for the oversight of ongoing changes to the product, assessing their impact on the final product, and ensuring vital actions are taken to maintain product quality and patient safety. Build and support product designs and that align with the ever-evolving needs and preferences of users.

Lead Design Transfer activities for New Product introduction and Sustaining projects.

Understand strategic imperatives to project success and work with Plant leadership to develop plans that incorporate R&D practices and customer needs into plant plans and activities.

Develop effective project achievements and schedules; identify project risks that may jeopardize project schedules and highlight effective mitigations; accountable for optimally meeting agreed upon breakthroughs for key projects.

Understand and effectively communicate to team members and partners in the manufacturing about the market niche, competitive forces influencing the project, and how the project fits into the business’ strategic focus/plan. Ensure that team objectives align with key corporate strategic programs.

Drive the team to tackle problems expeditiously through the use of multiple disciplines (such as DMAIC tools) and technical principles, guiding the team in terms of prioritization, problem resolution, process clarification, referrals to appropriate experts, etc. Hire, develop, manage, and retain team. Build and maintain employee and interpersonal development by providing direction, constructive feedback, recognition, and motivation.

Proactively prioritize and balance utilization of resources allocated to projects; identify opportunities to cross-train, back-fill. Develop recommendations for outside resources as the need arises. Build a professional network both internally within the business unit and locally outside of Baxter. Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor of Engineering and 10 years of related experience
  • Project Management experience.
  • Excellent understanding of Design Control.
  • Understanding of medical Device Manufacturing.

Bachelor's Degree (±16 years) - Engineering, Collaboration, English
