Baxter’s  Front Line Care business unit products expand therapies to better help patients and physicians to monitor & manage chronic or acute respiratory and cardiac diseases (COPD, CHF, etc.).  The earlier the treatment for these patients – the better the quality of life.  The $1.1B business portfolio includes products for airway clearance, cardiology & patient monitors     

As the Manager, Electrical Engineering, you will be leading a team of Electrical / Electronics engineers to support Device Engineering development team of the Front Line Care R&D team in Bangalore (BRD). Your team will develop creative solutions to challenging problems related to sustenance engineering of Respiratory health products, Electro Cardiograph Devices & Patient monitors.

You will be responsible for creating, ramping up and managing a team that aligns with the organization's vision or strategic plan. You will be responsible to recruit and build the complete team and drive the transfer of select product support ownership to support mainly in the sustaining engineering of Devices (with primary focus on Respiratory Health), including investigations for customer complaints and project work to address field issues related electrical/electronic components/ subsystems.

You will be expected to, based on significant technical expertise, review and approve complex design concepts and provide general directions to technical staff. Utilize solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of disciplines to manage complex projects or programs within boundaries of quality, time and budget. You will be acknowledged outside of business unit or division for input on programs of some magnitude. Need to exhibit creativity and innovation in completing divisional and cross-functional/business unit responsibilities.

You and your team will work with cross-functional teams located across the globe. Your team, as it grows in capability, will be expected to take on growing responsibilities for legacy products, peripherals, and strategic New Product Development activities. This position is based out of Bangalore and reports to the R&D Associate Director for Systems Engineering & HW Design of Front Line Care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, identify, hire, mentor, coach and recognize technical staff, manage career aspirations and performance evaluation of team members; the team may include senior level engineers and technicians.
  • Effectively communicate and realize vision and strategy for the Hardware organization that aligns with the business and product needs.
  • Ability to lead engineers in the group ensuring clear accountability and operational excellence. Ensure effective performance management.
  • Ensures that succession planning and talent pipeline is in place for technical and functional leadership for the assigned function. Collaborate across multiple locations to leverage talent and processes effectively.
  • Review and approve technical feasibility of complex design concepts and analysis of technologies that incorporate own area of expertise.
  • Work effectively with cross functional teams including quality, program management, manufacturing, regulatory, medical and clinical.
  • Collaborate in establishing processes for effective resource management from planning through execution in close collaboration with program management.
  • Foster an environment where mentoring, coaching, career growth and progression, and employee development are critical focus areas.
  • Facilitate a culture of innovation and problem solving within the team
  • Actively communicate and advocate team’s capabilities and accomplishments.
  • Responsible for development of state-of-the-art industry expertise and technical competencies for the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronics engineering with 10-15 years of work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams, preferably in managing product development teams.
  • At least 5 years of formal functional leadership experience, leading and managing team of electrical or electronics engineers.
  • Experience in Medical devices like ventilators or airway clearance products, diagnostics, laboratory testing product experience or similar products is preferred.
  • Must be hands-on & well versed in engineering disciplines (e.g. PCBA design involving Battery, Blower, Compressor, Motor control and Solenoid contro, Sensors, Simulation).
  • Must possess knowledge of related disciplines. Ability to design and implement in own area of expertise.
  • Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

  • Understanding of and adherence to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations and standards.
