Title: Spec, IT-Regional MES

Location: Bangalore

Your role

Baxter Healthcare Asia Pacific has 11 manufacturing plants using a high level of Automation. An MES system developed by Baxter (MRDACS/EBD) is implemented fully in 2 of these plants and partially in another. The company has taken a strategic decision to now standardize all plants on a common platform. Simatic IT eBR/Opcenter Execution Pharma, a Siemens software, will be rolled out.

There is therefore a support and a project element to this role. The MES COE team will provide 24/7 support to plants live on the standard solution.

The project role involves being part of a project team to implement the MES in new plants. This role involves being in a team involving Plant IT, Engineering, Production and Quality Staff. Within the project role the roll out and development of the Software, mentors of the Process Control Systems will guide and work together to ensure the direction and implementation meets the quality and production requirements of the systems and interfaces correctly with other production systems. This role will report directly to the APAC Regional IT Manager and will focus on the Asia Pacific region.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage the software development and documentation component of MES focused projects and programs in Asia Pacific region with special focus in MES (OpCenter Execution Pharma from Siemens).
  • Coordinate with other team members to drive standardization and regional best practices in manufacturing and supply chain IT programs, both in technology and approach.
  • Monitor the performance of the existing MES system across appropriate run metrics (availability, tech performance, etc.) and take lead in reporting regionally and globally as needed and in coordination of appropriate issue resolution.
  • Create functional designs, test scripts, and training documentation.
  • Understand Digital Manufacturing concept and think of regional approach to speed up implementation and reduce local burden for application maintenance.
  • Drive standardized business processes among manufacturing systems/functions to simplify business processes using industry experience.
  • Work closely with management to understand and prioritize business goals and information needs, including translate needs to functional systems requirement documents and design specifications.
  • Manage overall testing process and project to within defined project plan timelines.
  • During Maintenance, Small Change and project work ensure all testing and validation requirements are performed.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering discipline
  • Manufacturing and Supply Chain IT Operational experience is important
  • Experience in MES or other manufacturing applications in Pharmaceutical or Food Industry is desired
  • Have at least 5+ years’ experience in development of manufacturing applications
  • Have good understanding in Oracle Database or other SQL Databases
  • Experience in programming languages Visual Basic, Visual C#, etc will be an advantage
  • Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Can work independently as well as within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to manage software implementations across multiple locations within Asia Pacific, with strong ability to interact effectively within a multidisciplinary and diverse team
  • Effective interpersonal, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Support manufacturing and supply chain leadership in identifying operational opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Determine value assessment/business drivers for process improvement within manufacturing and supply chain IT
  • English language proficiency a must

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in appropriate discipline.
  • Manufacturing and Supply Chain IT Operational experience desired
  • Experience in MES application in Pharmaceutical or Food Industry 
  • Office environment based in Asia Pacific.  Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, primarily to AP Baxter Manufacturing and Supply Chain locations.  May require weekend and extended work periods.
