Your role at Baxter

The Manufacturing Engineer supports daily initiatives from manufacturing teams in surgical and tissue products, processes, materials, and equipment to integrate new products within production goals (i.e., quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and safety). Support engineering improvement projects and participate in R&D activities as assigned. Support key development and continuous engineering projects, continues KPI implementation and follow up. Support conversion loss projects. Design using Solidworks. Support investigations into nonconformism and CAPAs.

What you'll be doing

  • Performs routine engineering assignments of related tasks which are typically a focused portion of larger projects.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing lines, including floor support, non-conforming product investigations, change order control requests reviews, and new equipment qualifications.
  • Assist in the design and manufacture of production equipment and fixtures using Solidworks.
  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, health and safety SOPs, equipment, policies and procedures, including any department specific requirements.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Complete trainings in a timely manner.
  • Maintain reliable attendance.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Science (Biomedical Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Electromechanical)
  • 1+ years in an engineering role in a highly regulated industry preferred
  • Ability to discuss normally encountered technical or project management issues, both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
  • Ability to solve routine design, engineering problems with assistance.
  • Effectively operate in a cross-functional team with guidance.
  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Preferred experience with supporting manufacturing product lines.

Work Environment

  • This is an onsite position.
  • Time will be divided between desk/office, production, laboratory, and warehouse areas. Some production areas will require occasional work in a clean room environment wearing special garments and PPE (e.g. scrubs, hair bonnets, frocks, hoods, masks, gloves, safety glasses) based on the Class level for each Clean Room.
  • This job also involves hazardous materials and hazardous waste responsibilities which include understanding and complying with hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulations for job duties such as:  proper handling, storage, hazardous waste in-house treatment using neutralization and dilution systems, and labeling requirements for hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
  • May be required to observe surgical procedures while in an operating theater
  • Additional time may be needed based upon business demands

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for minimum of 8 hours, with breaks provided throughout the shift
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds individually or up to 65 pounds as part of a team lift.
  • Frequent use of monitors, keyboards and mouse

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $72,000 - $99,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
