Your Role at Baxter:

As the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, you will work as part of the Patient and Customer Services (PCS) department, supervising employees in the Commercial/Medicaid and Patient Accounts Receivable functions. This role is directly responsible for executing departmental policies and procedures to ensure collection of claims, collection of patient balances, and compliance with existing payer and internal policies. Additional duties include identifying and ensuring adherence to payer requirements for documentation and authorization, identifying and resolving escalated payer or patient issues, collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure business processes and efficiencies are met, and drive to meet team collection and accounts receivable goals.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Recruit, hire and train collection staff. Employee development and performance management.

  • Oversee the Collections personnel to collect outstanding receivables from third party payers and/or patients.

  • Monitor workload for functional areas including daily/weekly/monthly performance metrics, adherence to standard work procedures, specific projects and cross-functional training.

  • Perform claim adjustment reviews to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with Managed Care/Market Access, Reimbursement Services, Billing and other key stakeholders to meet business needs.

  • Identify and develop strategies surrounding specific payer issues to improve reimbursement and help decrease days outstanding.

  • Manage and bring to resolution patient escalation issues.

  • Manage and resolve non-product complaints.

  • Monitor and evaluate team effectiveness and individual productivity measured against established performance standards and service level agreements.

  • Apply corrective measures as appropriate to ensure standards are maintained and goals are achieved.

  • Collaborate with supervisory team to ensure consistency in communications and procedures across PCS department.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 2+ years supervisory or leadership experience within Medical/Healthcare industry.

  • 3+ years of relevant accounts receivable, collections, insurance and customer service experience within Medical/Healthcare industry preferred.

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, guidelines, and standards, including a working knowledge of Compliance and HIPAA rules and regulations.

  • Basic understanding of other revenue cycle functions, including coding, billing and collections.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Innovative thinking/problems solving skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

  • Billing database software experience preferred.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career.  At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.  To that end, this position has a base salary range of $64,000 to $88,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position.  The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
