Your Role at Baxter

As a Sterilization Specialist, you will focus on innovation, process improvement, and or operational excellence initiatives. You will lead the planning, execution, and management of Sterility Assurance critical initiatives. Build and implement sophisticated design and technical tasks, integrating information from a variety of fields. As an expert you will develop and drive Sterility Assurance strategies in collaboration with internal and external partners (PDOs, ISC-PMO/Strategy, ISC-Procurement, Quality, CMOs).

What you'll be doing

  • Build novel and innovative products/processes/methods through novel combinations of expertise within the organization.
  • Independently generate innovative solutions to sophisticated problems through the use of multiple technical principles.
  • Sought out by other teams and individuals to offer technical advice; may act as coach, mentor, supervisor and technical advisor to junior members within the team.
  • Develop products/processes (design, quality improvements, research techniques, etc.) incorporating multiple tasks within area of expertise.
  • Independently plan, implement and manage projects/programs that both span multiple subject areas and incorporate novel methods, techniques or approaches.
  • Incorporate knowledge of customer use and product design to predict product effectiveness/anticipate potential failures. Analyze completed designs and results and modify them to increase product/processes acceptance, quality and reliability.
  • Develop new or improved techniques and procedures around specific tasks; write and implement SOP's. Develop research outlines for large scientific projects.
  • Apply specialized technical and theoretical knowledge in creative ways to a broad range of difficult problems. Contribute to technical feasibility analysis, which incorporates multiple areas where new and unproven methods and technologies are required.
  • Present research results at external conferences, publish articles in journals and/or file patents.
  • Must be able to supervise and/or direct the laboratory work for lower level research associates.
  • Support important business initiatives, including exploring new opportunities (alternate sterilization modalities), project oversight, and developing new areas of business (new products, new CMOs).
  • Foster a high-performance team by nurturing and involving employees who demonstrate outstanding skills and a strong drive to succeed.
  • Demonstrate and champion core authentic leadership behaviors and promote diversity.
  • Identify operational problems and implement improvement strategies to improve efficiency across the end-to-end sterility assurance lifecycle.
  • Stay current on new technologies, 3rd party service providers, market trends.
  • Perform vendor assessments and proof-of -concept for new technologies.

What you'll bring

  • Must possess strong ability to negotiate for resources and influence others internally and externally.
  • Must be able to contribute in setting strategic scientific direction for the organization and communicate the vision to their team members.
  • Can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty; can decide and act without having the total picture.
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field with at least 15 years of relevant experience, MS with at least 10 years, or PhD with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • QSR research experience is essential and GMP experience useful.
  • Lab experience includes research in GMP/QSR environment, leadership of technical teams, and project management experience is desirable.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000 - $198,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
