Your Role at Baxter

Technical focus on container design in determining requirements, establishing testing requirements, planning and execution of verification leading to submission and launch of products. Displays standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input. Plans, schedules and leads project assignments in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures and criteria with minimal guidance

What you'll be doing

  • Lead a team through the planning and execution of a smaller project or defined piece of a larger project. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, collaborating with development groups and technical support groups.
  • Devise innovative approaches to comprehensive problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Supervises/coordinates an engineer and/or technician on assigned work.
  • Identify creative solutions to sophisticated problems.
  • Define and implement plans to rapidly assess and optimize designs.
  • Use appropriate analytical methods to assess designs and processes.
  • Operate independently, with latitude for independent judgment with some supervision while providing high quality output.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Review designs and drawings against: general standards, design requirements, geometric tolerances, drafting practices and the applicable manufacturing process.
  • Develop statistically valid tests to verify/validate designs meet product/system requirements.
  • Generate design and test documentation that meets company, FDA, and ISO requirements.
  • Coordinate and present technical and project status overviews without minimal assistance.
  • Perform other related product design and development duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Collaborate optimally with multi-functional development teams and manufacturing facilities.

What you'll bring

  • B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Biomedical preferred) and 5years of experience in the design, development and testing of medical devices. Experience with drug containers is a plus.
  • Experience in design and implementation of components produced by extrusion, polymer sealing, and assembly.
  • Experience creating design documentation according to FDA and ISO medical device product development process requirements.
  • Experience using engineering statistical methods to aid in the development decision process.
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis, problem solving skills, use of DMAIC tools and Design of Experiments a plus.
  • Cross-functional team experience, including technical and non-technical work.
  • Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000-156,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
