Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and multifaceted Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to own the accounting function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the CAO will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and driving continuous process improvement initiatives within the function.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage the preparation and review of financial documents, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements specific to the healthcare industry.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations in the healthcare industry, such as ASC 606 and 842.
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly accounting close process, including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports, while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise to the executive team and other collaborators on sophisticated accounting issues, such as revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and other areas as needed.
  • Oversee the external audit process, handle relationships with external auditors, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other leaders to develop and implement financial strategies and initiatives that align with the overall company goals and objectives.
  • Manage and lead the accounting team, provide mentorship, and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of all SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other SEC filings as required.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all SEC filings and provide support for investor relations and other external communications.
  • Stay current changes in SEC regulations and accounting standards, ensuring the company’s compliance with new requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for operational improvements and automation of accounting functions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification required.
  • 10+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of US GAAP and healthcare-specific accounting standards.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with a proven track record of building and leading impactful teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial collaborators.
  • Experience with SOX compliance, SEC reporting, and working with external auditors.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $444,000 - $492,000 USD annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
