Your Role at Baxter

The Medical Products Technology and Innovation PMO leads initiatives and coordinates change efforts for smart pump platform implementation, connectivity, interoperability, and other digital health solutions. Our goal is to enhance our customers' ability to serve patients and advance key aspects of Baxter's strategy.

This dynamic and significant role, positioned at the intersection of medical device, connectivity, and interoperability, is crucial within Baxter’s Digital Platforms and Innovation organization. The Sr. Project Manager, MPT, will work with the Director/Associate Director of Medical Products Technology PMO and lead Baxter’s smart pump platform implementation, interoperability, and digital health products for the US Region.

This is a full-time, remote opportunity where there will be up to 75% travel.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and handle projects across the US related to Smart Pump Implementation and EMR Interoperability
  • Bring together and analyze business requirements to implement multi-platform hardware and software interoperability at healthcare institutions.
  • Develop and implement project plans for the interoperability of Baxter’s Medical Products Technology and Digital Health Portfolio.
  • Ensure cross-team collaboration with internal and external partners, using niche expertise.
  • Lead multiple sophisticated projects concurrently, including projects related to Baxter’s product roadmap.
  • Partner with the Interoperability engineering team for customer critical issues and new vendor relationship engagements.
  • Develop roadmaps and detailed project plans and communicate progress and challenges to senior leadership.
  • Lead user acceptance testing and launch readiness with customers, EMR vendors, and other partners.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for interoperability, supporting various business areas within Baxter Healthcare.
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks and resolve issues using analytical, technical, and managerial skills.
  • Create and deliver presentations and project information to customers and partners.
  • Collaborate with Global Services to define the transition from project go-live to sustaining support, including critical issue pathways.
  • Emerging technologies and identify and implement process improvements in existing systems.
  • Mentor and/or lead others within the functional team.
  • Collaborate with customers, EMR, and middleware vendors to interface medical devices using HL7 specifications.
  • Stay updated on new and emerging technologies within technical expertise while being a resource to other Baxter employees.
  • Analyze log messages to tackle interface issues and assist with the development of integration fix tools and processes.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, clinical Informatics, IT (Information Technology), or engineering disciplines preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or Agile SAFe certification preferred.
  • Proven experience with the Medical Device Industry Implementation/Integration
  • Experience with networking/wireless networking desired.
  • Minimum 7 years of Project Management or Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) experience.
  • 3 years of demonstrated ability with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) applications and/or clinical data sets.
  • Proficiency with IHE profiles, HL7, and FHIR standards.
  • Experience leading projects and coordinating activities across diverse departments, ensuring alignment and integration.
  • Proven understanding across the full project lifecycle (discovery, requirements definition, design, build, testing, deployment).
  • Good experience with business users and technical resources to translate project requests into final deliverables.
  • Ability to design project artifacts (timelines, status reports, requirements documentation, test plans).
  • Proficiency to identify, assess, communicate, and resolve problems, facilitating issue resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including designing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences for feedback and alignment on project goals and strategies.
  • Ability to acquire vendor credentials/vaccines.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $144,000 to $198,000. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
