Your role at Baxter

We are seeking a skilled Head of Technical Service to oversee technical operations and support services for our renal therapies company in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with strong commercial acumen. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our renal therapy equipment, while maintaining a high focus on customer satisfaction, quality of services and focus on commercially successful service operations.

Location:  Unterschleißheim (Munich) or Hybrid

Responsibility and geography: Technical Services  Germany, Austria, Switzerland

What you'll be doing

  • Manage a team of technical service professionals in a field service organization to provide technical support to customers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Department size is about 40 employees.

  • Drive Technical Services commercial offering and value proposition. Apply strategy and guidance on Technical Service offerings (pricing, contracts, training, spare parts, digital support services).

  • Develop and implement technical service strategies to optimize equipment uptime, minimize downtime, and enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and our Center of Excellence, to address customer feedback, product improvements, and service innovations.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and company policies in all technical service operations.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics, such as service response times, first-time fix rates, and customer satisfaction scores, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Establish relationships with key customers, key opinion leaders, and key stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical solutions and support.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's or professional degree in Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, or related field

  • Proven experience in technical service management, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry

  • Technical background with commercial experience and expertise in supporting and maintaining complex equipment

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of technical professionals

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, German comparable to native language and fluency in English

  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and drive results in a dynamic environment

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to medical devices

  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering service and support

  • Willingness to travel within Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as needed. Typically 20-30% of labor time including overnight stays
