Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis on raw materials, solutions, and components following approved Standard Operating Procedures and test methods in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to work under minimum supervision while meeting deadlines.

What you'll be doing

  • Analyze organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds, standards or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with standards or to make improvements as needed.
  • Supervise operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Purchase laboratory supplies, such as chemicals.
  • Operate lab equipment such as pipets, burets, balances, hot plates, etc.
  • Review samples received, logs samples, and enter data into computer database (LIMS)
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of laboratory and test suites
  • Sustain a clean and safe work environment applying 6S principles
  • Perform routine laboratory and safety audits
  • Serve as mentor to Quality Laboratory Associate (QLA) I positions. Provide training and work direction for QLA I positions as required.
  • Use sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and computer systems to collect and record data.
  • Perform advanced chemical assays requiring precise analytical skills and understanding of chemistry principles.
  • Complete all testing, including special project / protocol testing in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs and specifications, FDA, GLP, QSR and cGMP regulations.
  • Investigate deviations and write exception documents.
  • Work under minimum supervision

What you'll bring

  • B.S. degree in Natural Sciences: Chemistry preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in a Chemistry Laboratory or Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences with 0-3 years experience in a Chemistry Laboratory, preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry
  • Computer literate/knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Must have a basic understanding of laboratory instrumentation
  • Good documentation skills and knowledge of GDPs (Good Documentation Practices)
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/priorities in a timely manner
  • Familiarity with LIMS (or equivalent system) and TrackWise
  • Able to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers
  • Must be proficient in implementing general microbiology procedures

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $60,000 - $82,500 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
