Job Description

Job title: Site Engineer

Reporting to: Site Manager

Working Hours: Predominantly M-F 08:00 - 16:00 with expectation to be available for planned out of hours engineering works.

Summary

As an Equipment Engineer at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in improving our equipment's performance and reliability. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to lead capital investment projects, ensuring that our Compounding facilities and equipment meet the highest standards. You will be at the forefront of maintaining and upgrading our equipment while ensuring compliance with cGMP, FDA, ISO13485, and EHS legislation.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a Safety-first approach in all aspects of the role.
  • Lead identifying and fixing faults, and resolving issues in compounding-related plant and equipment.
  • Plan and complete shutdown activities, including start-up procedures.
  • Implement an engineering improvement plan for the Compounding Unit.
  • Concentrate on improving plant and equipment dependability to boost availability and OEE metrics.
  • Coordinate and guide the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of all facilities and equipment.
  • Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance procedures and schedules, ensuring equipment reliability and product quality.
  • Active participant in the Perfect Equipment Steering Committee.
  • Work together with local operational staff and the UK Engineering Manager to bring uniformity to the Perfect Equipment system.
  • Manage contractors, service providers, installation engineers, and other external resources.
  • Coordinate engineering projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Perform administrative functions, including report writing and decision-making on parts, equipment, and services procurement.
  • Identify and manage critical spares inventory and coordinate parts-sharing initiatives with other Compounding Units.

Qualifications/ experience /knowledge

  • Extensive background in the upkeep of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment.
  • A Craft Apprenticeship (& HNC preferred) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a multi-skilled engineer.
  • Experience in setting up new plant and equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A responsive and flexible attitude to supporting internal and external customer requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure within a dedicated team.
