Senior Specialist, Medical Information

Your Role Summary

As part of the Medical Information Centre of Excellence (CoE) Medical Information Specialist will be responsible for leading all aspects of Medical Information support for all Baxter products to both internal and external customers. The MIS facilitates the development and operational implementation of the Medical Information strategy in the EMEA region. In this role MIS will provide in-house MSL/medical affairs support to the Medical Director in the development and implementation of the medical affairs vision, mission, strategy, and action plan in full alignment with the business plans.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide quality Medical Information service to internal and external customers, recording comprehensive details into the Medical Information Management System and responsible for the maintenance of the system.
  • Provide training to internal and external resources that may work with the Medical Information Management System.
  • To ensure that relevant product knowledge and search system skills are gained, applied, and maintained.
  • Develop and maintain standard responses, frequently asked questions, and standard operational procedures, metrics management, and reporting.
  • Identify potential Adverse Events and Product Complaints and report to appropriate teams, with monthly reconciliation.
  • Own the contact and contract with “on call” sub-contractors / customer service, the company responsible for the Baxter out-of-hours communication duty.
  • Identify market trends, customer needs, and changing clinical practice and communicate back to therapeutic areas and cross-functional partners.
  • Where appropriate, provide input to business tenders.
  • To raise awareness of the Medical Information operation and processes with the broader Baxter teams, i.e. sales and marketing, QA, etc.
  • To apply a basic awareness of business strategy to identify inquiry trends and emerging issues, raising awareness with relevant colleagues.
  • To realize alliances and collaborate with Medical Information CoE colleagues, R&D as well as country Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Quality and Operations functions, PDO (product design owner) e.g. innovation, non-clinical studies and research, shared learning, training and Field Corrective Action management.
  • To partner with colleagues within the Medical Information CoE team on agreed projects, shared learning and backup inquiry management.
  • Take ownership in the planning, development, and execution of Medical Information to support product launches.
  • Provide support for medical information booths at conferences.
  • May be involved in the development and execution of training programs on Baxter products or therapeutic areas.
  • Review and approval of advertising & promotional material for Baxter products

What are we looking for? ​Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent medical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to search and summarize medical literature/data accurately and appropriately.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team & participate cross-functionally.
  • Enjoys talking on the phone with excellent phone etiquette and effective conflict management skills.
  • Broad understanding of the regulatory and healthcare environment in Europe or ECEMEA or LATAM
  • Languages:  Proficient English, multilingual speaker preferred including Spanish/Italian/French
  • Proven interpersonal skills,
  • Good multitasking and time-management skills

Education and Experience

  • Life Sciences degree level with relevant experience including at least 4-5 years within the pharmaceutical industry preferably in Medical Information or Medical Affairs.
  • Established information service experience and proven proficiency in scientific communications.
  • Computer literacy and Windows Office tools skills.
  • Knowledge or experience with Baxter’s products or driven products is an advantage
