Your role at Baxter
As a Principal Engineer in Systems Engineering, you will apply a solid understanding of standard Systems engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input. Plans, schedules and leads project assignments in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures and criteria with minimal guidance. As part of this role, you will be applying simulation & system modeling techniques to build prototypes and prove the concepts as necessitated by the projects in the exploratory design development cycles collaborating with cross functional teams.

What you'll be doing:

  • Embraces accountability for critical decisions and deliverables within area/role of responsibility and expanded complexity.
  • Applies diligence in determining the best solution(s) for technical issues. Focuses on critical information without getting bogged down in unnecessary detail.
  • Applies creative thinking to resolve issues
  • Creates design concepts and research methodologies that best meet current and future customer & business needs for a product or process domain area.
  • Has an understanding of clinical and user needs and is able to apply to product realization
  • Understands and contributes to resolution of competing constraints among inter-related functions
  • Contributes to the program/project or the organization’s technical strategy.
  • Demonstrates good business judgment in balancing budget, profitability and vendor relationships; understands business financials and resulting impacts that decisions have on the business.
  • Thorough understanding and drives application of phases of life cycle management
  • Ability to apply life cycle management principles within exploratory, new product development or sustaining phases
  • Can perform as an independent reviewer in technical and design reviews
  • Leverages knowledge of technology, process, and/or therapy domains to drive solutions and product design realization.
  • Proposes and drives solutions to sophisticated technical problems.
  • Recognized within the immediate team for technical and/or process expertise as evidenced by solicitation for input on a variety of issues.
  • Engaged and respected within the team, for example may act as LSD or PDO for products or as a subject matter expert on technical problems.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations and standards within area of responsibility/expertise.
  • Applies risk scenarios and applies technical risk mitigation tools and complete mitigation strategies to ensure optimal results.

What you'll bring:

  • B.S.in Computer Science, Electrical, Bio-Medical, Software Engineering or related field and 6+ years of related experience.
  • Strong Experience in Digital Twin, Simulations, System modeling using Model Based Design techniques.
  • Expertise in controls and algorithms development in safety critical products and domains such as medical, aerospace, and automotive etc.
  • Display a solid understanding of theories/practices applied by other fields outside primary area of expertise.
  • Ability to convince management on courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods.
  • Effectively operate in and may facilitate cross-functional teams.
  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
  • Experience with embedded or application software development.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 - $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
