Principal Process Engineer

Summary:

Create and manage Engineering, Automation Process and Digitalization and Industry 4.0 tools (AI Vision, machine learning) activities that aligns with regional organization's vision and long-term strategic plan.  Utilizes solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of disciplines to manage complex projects or programs within boundaries of process improvement and technologies optimization ensuring effectiveness, quality, time, and budget. Acknowledged outside of business unit or division for input on programs of some magnitude. Exhibits creativity and innovation in completing divisional and cross-functional/business unit responsibilities.  Possess exceptional critical thinking and communication skills and have a quest for continuous improvement.

The candidate is responsible for project management and engineering support for process setup and process improvement and digital transformation initiatives. Knowledge of machine design, CAD, PLC Programming and project management is an asset. 

This role will report to the MPT EMEA/APAC Associate Director, Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify equipment and process issues and support in the process improvement planning and execution.
  • Support in the Global roll out and implementation of the Automation Process and Digitalization Roadmap projects (3-5 years). What, when, and how based on the manufacturing site's maturity and readiness.
  • Development a Master plan understanding the best practice being followed to be used as benchmarked across other plants within the Cluster and Segments. Identify use cases to constantly improve operation metrics to attain global benchmarks and become the best in class.
  • Strong partnership with global digital teams to advance/accelerate key strategic digital transformation initiatives to create new value in the manufacturing sites in the Segment and Cluster.
  • Perform site assessments from an Infrastructure (Automation Process - Digitalization Programs) standpoint and organizational readiness and devise transformation plans in partnership with the regional and local site leadership team.
  • Build, lead, and mentor digital transformation team at local sites.
  • Build partnership with Regional and Site Senior Leadership team.
  • Provide a governance mechanism for Automation Process and Digitalization Programs at Cluster-Segment and Site level.
  • Manage monthly executive reporting on progress and business adoption.
  • Work with Regional Plants that Engineering initiatives, profit maintenances obsolesce Roadmaps are completed on schedule. Ensuring that capital needs are allocated based on Prioritization Criteria guideline for Regulatory, MIP and Profit Maintenance projects.
  • Develop an Alliance Model with Standard Engineering Service Provider (URS- Design, Construction Management). Standard vendors and approach for repeat services / materials.
  • Develop programs to scout new technologies-innovation oriented to improve performance and availability of manufacturing equipment related to region needs as: Complaints -defects reduction- MIP -efficiency projects, conversion loss.
  • Travel to global manufacturing sites in the Cluster as required.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in leading complex projects in a global manufacturing organization and a matrixed environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / science with experience in project management.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and systems (ERP, MES, SCADA, etc.) and PLC-HMI Scada IPC controllers, vision systems, software programming and Mechanical (Design-improvements) -pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and demonstrate effectiveness in task completion, decision-making, empowerment of others, problem solving and team leadership.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to drive results.
  • Ability to organize and present technical information and project plans.
  • Excellent team player and self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Healthcare or other regulated industry experience in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred.
  • Qualification and training in formal and systematic methods of program planning, management, and control is considered an asset.
  • Financial understanding of the business value of transformation programs.
  • Ability to implement plans while effectively manage risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent teammate and self-Starter with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The role will require up to 30% travel as required.
