Summary
Under management supervision, the R&D Engineer II will be contributing to the sustainability of existing product and/or the design and development of new products within the Nutrition Solution & Container portfolio, part of Medication Products and Therapies Segment.
In addition to providing technical support and service to these areas, the incumbent may also have a role of container lead with team leadership responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
Under supervision, support/manage new product development activities, product lifecycle activities (e;g. supplier notice of changes (SNCs)) and/or product improvements activities (e.g. complaint reduction) associated with the design, manufacturing and control of Nutrition products.
- manage change control as change owner or participate as task owner.
- organize, plan and execute product changes in compliance with international regulations and quality standards.
- coordinate and set up cross-functional team meetings to ensure change execution, problem-solving and decision making.
- provide technical support for investigation on quality or supply issues (qualify alternate raw material, problem solving, Complaint reduction) for different manufacturing plants.
Under minimal supervision, perform container engineering activities and research to contribute to the design of new and existing products
- Compile reports and analysis in written and graphic form, describing observations and results of studies.
- Effectively present information and study results to pertinent organization staff members.
- Conduct literature research and identify new technological opportunities to improve the products and manufacturing processes.
- Screen new ideas, perform feasibility studies for container closure system improvements.
With some guidance, redaction of technical documents:
- Issue design verification plan/report and engineering studies.
- Maintain Container Closure System Design requirements and related Design History Files (DHF) documents updated.
- Technical & Design review meeting reports.
Qualifications and experience
- Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Materials Science) or related field with 1+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in oral and written English language is mandatory, French is a plus
- Self-motivated, resourceful, flexible and self-starter.
- Strong critical thinking skills and willing to develop specific technical skills and knowledge when required
- Proven ability to communicate effectively within a global team (written & verbal)
- Proven ability to work as a collaborative team member
- Experience with statistical (Minitab) and Six Sigma (5 why's, fishbone diagram, DMAIC...) tools/problem solving methodologies is a plus
