Principal Project Engineer

Your role at Baxter

In this role, you will be responsible for crafting, developing, and implementing projects and technologies as part of Baxter North Cove advancement. You will lead all aspects of the Project/Project Team from conception through completion within scope, cost, quality & schedule requirements. This position will be located on-site in Marion, NC.

What you will be doing

  • Defining overall scope, establishing detailed CER submission (FEL, project charter, RACI matrix, PDRI, project presentation).

  • RFP for acquiring proposals from all required consultants (engineering, construction, cost estimations (IPC costs), equipment vendors, etc.)

  • Build detailed case, & present, to Senior Management within Baxter for funding of project.

  • Coordinate & lead multi-disciplined project team to ensure successful completion of all project work you're doing.

  • Lead major breakthroughs, schedules & monthly cost plans.

  • Provide periodic project status to management including risks/mitigations, financial updates, short/long term project outlook, etc.

  • Lead project change control to ensure project remains within defined scope, budget & schedule

  • Collaboration with other sites within Baxter to gain standard methodologies & equipment specifications that will transfer to Baxter North Cove.

  • Consistency to mechanisms for supervising project progress, intervention & problem solving with other line managers or personnel

  • Assist with any training required of personnel supporting the project

  • Ensure all facets of the project lifecycle align with expectations set forth by management &/or project owner, such as installation, solving, qualification & validation of equipment

  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

  • Learn, understand and apply meticulous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

What you will bring

  • BS in Engineering required (Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred).

  • 10+ years proven project management skills in a manufacturing facility, including:

  • Capital Investment Projects with major projects in excess of $10M (preferred)

  • Change Management Projects (preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment (preferred).

  • Sophisticated Project Management proficiencies obtained through relevant PM training or experience.

  • Knowledgeable in core work processes & GMP concepts.

  • Understanding of complicated product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts.

  • Extensive knowledge of project management including the ability to create work plans & detailed project schedules.

  • Proficient in problem solving, negotiation, conflict management & interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to act as project lead & lead cross functional project teams in the development & implementation of projects.

  • Ability to influence others on objectives & projects outcomes.

  • Basic understanding of contractual documents.

  • Ability to read/review design drawings (CAD) with a basic understanding of P&ID, HVAC & Electrical systems.

  • Thorough understanding of technical documents such as URS, SAT, FAT & Validation Protocols.

  • Proven project management experience with direct management of multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 - $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
