Baxter North Cove is on a mission to modernize our manufacturing processes through the implementation of advanced automation and Industry 4.0 tools. These tools are designed to improve our productivity goals and enable manufacturing sites to be smarter and leaner.

In this role, you will exhibit a passion for new technologies and data, possess exceptional critical thinking and interpersonal skills, and have a quest for continuous improvement. Knowledge of various leading Industry 4.0 tools such as AI/ML, computer vision, autonomous vehicles, IoT platforms, cloud & edge computing, and related-emerging technologies are preferred. You will be responsible for project management and engineering support for digital transformation initiatives. Knowledge of machine design, CAD or PLC Programming, fixing and project management is required.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop or participate in the development of solutions to problems specific to assigned project.
  • Identify equipment/automation issues and recommend/implement improvements to Digital Transformation products and technologies.
  • Generate technical documentation in support of project work and requirements, such as: protocols, reports, user requirements specifications (URS), design specifications, validation test cases, manuals, work instructions, etc.
  • Design and performs routine testing, project experiments, analysis of data and reports results.
  • Initiates new or revisions of protocols/operating instructions specific to the project.
  • Manage and implement change control activities related to equipment.
  • Performs work assignments within production department that include training and technical support.
  • Interpret, execute, and recommend modifications to operating policies where appropriate.
  • Assist in the design, installation and start-up of new equipment and systems.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and implement problem resolution for existing and new equipment/systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to others (internal and external).
  • Provide leadership, direction, and expertise for complex projects.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required (Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • 3+ years of Rockwell PLC experience.
  • Servo control systems (Rockwell, Yaskawa).
  • Ability to read and write electrical schematics.
  • Knowledgeable in the practice and execution of validation protocols.
  • Experience with computer vision hardware (i.e., industrial cameras, lenses, optics, and lighting).
  • Experience engaging and effectively managing outside contractors, vendors, suppliers, etc.

Technical Software Skills Preferred:

  • PLC: Allen-Bradley Control Logix, AB500, Safety PLCs.
  • HMI: Allen-Bradley.
  • Communication: Understanding of TCP/IP networks, RS-232 interfaces, Profibus communication, Fieldbus and HSSB.
  • Electrical: Hands on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, understanding of Category 3 Safety Systems, E-Plan P8, AutoCAD, ability to read /draw schematics.
  • Familiarity with drives (such as servo and VFD) motion control, encoders, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Robotics: Fanuc, Yaskawa.
  • Vision Systems: Cognex, Keyence.
  • Programming (Bonus): C#, C++, VB, SQL Server.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $88,000 - $121,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
