Background
More than 800 million people worldwide suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Of these, 2 million people receive dialysis treatment. Dialysis therapy aims at removing excessive body fluid and wastes from the body. This is done either by pumping the blood through a filter outside the body (hemodialysis) or by using the peritoneum inside the body as a filter (peritoneal dialysis). Baxter touches the lives of millions of people around the world every day. Our products and therapies are found throughout hospitals and clinics as well as in the homes of our patients.
Summary
The Research & Innovation team at Baxter in Lund are constantly developing concepts and products to meet future demands of dialysis worldwide. There is now an opportunity to be part of this creative team as a summer intern and to help forming the future of dialysis. We are looking for engineering students with experience in one or more of the following domains: physics, optics, biotechnology, electronics, programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The work consists of testing and evaluating sensors or components aimed for future dialysis products, including:
•Performing experiments in lab environment
•Collecting and analyzing data from experiments
•Using Matlab, Minitab or similar tool for analysis of data
•Reporting results and findings
There will be experienced engineers to guide you through your work.
Qualifications
•Studies in MSc program at LTH (F, Pi, Nano, E, BME, D, Biotechnology or similar)
•Structured and curious to learn
