Your team
In this newly crafted role, you will ensure the consistency, quality, and timely delivery of Corporate Responsibility (CR) and Baxter International Foundation (Foundation) financial data to support the execution of our Corporate Responsibility/ESG strategy as well as serving as the business partner for Baxter’s SVP, Corporate Communications.
The role will provide fiscal and compliance oversight of our pursuits by working with subject matter authorities from the organization along with several business functions.
This position will report to the Senior Director, FP&A and dotted line to Vice President, Corporate Responsibility & Global Philanthropy, and you will work with budget preparation, reconciliation, and tracking (including functional budgets across the organization), cost allocation, quarterly reporting, and grants management.
What you'll be doing
Develop annual budgets for our Communications, CR/ESG and philanthropic functions as well as develop and implement budgeting and forecasting systems demonstrating enterprise digital transformation tools to support annual LRP / AOP planning, quarterly forecasting revisions, and Monthly reconciliations
Run data from across the business to review and report spending against 2030 objectives
Serve as project management lead to develop and manage 2030 CR Goals dashboard for CR Steering Committee in partnership with IT
Central ESG program/management costs -- ex. Writers (David Hudson) / Materiality vendor / CR design vendor (Kutyla) / APEX
Consolidate + coordinate with 2030 Goal Finance Managers for regular reporting
Philanthropy (GCR)
Corporate charitable donations (cash + product)
Foundation annual budget in coordination with GCR team
Acquire, maintain and improve comprehensiveness of the respective financial data content in a timely and accurate manner
Monthly reconciliation
Prepare for the quarterly corporate responsibility, checking reviews and audits
Run preparation and consolidation of annual philanthropic data for Corporate Responsibility Report, including lead on submission of materials and review with Internal Audit
Own the preparation of annual tax filings and build and maintain financial records for grant funded projects to be used for annual tracking and reporting purposes
Work with Deloitte Tax LLP, Treasury & Baxter Tax [Typically February thru April 15 -- once a year]
In-depth coordination of all philanthropic giving budgets (finance forensics) + Expenditure Review for OUS grants
Develop and modify policies/procedures/systems in accordance with CR/ESG regulations and philanthropic giving needs and objectives –
Oversight of Foundation pursuits – updates to investment policy, build audit procedures & policies, work with global audit team to build internal audit readiness in preparation for 2024 external audit –
Objective a clean audit in 2024 for the Foundation
Prepare and/or review information and reports for internal and external partners
Provide philanthropic / ESG financial data needed for ratings/rankings and other requests such as investors
Encourage and influence others to integrate and drive forward our financial tracking strategy across a decentralized organization to support our reporting and disclosure initiatives with business results
What you'll bring
6+ years of professional experience (Corporate Finance/FP&A, Accounting, Consolidations, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting
Strong leadership skills
Shown experience in a multinational environment and/or audit
Proficient in both written and spoken English
Strong reporting tools including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience in JDE, and/or BaxIntel, is an advantage
Additional hours at critical times (e.g., month-end) may be required.
