Role Summary:
Responsible for managing general accounting tasks and controllership projects for India Region and lead the controllership team to ensure compliance with US GAAP, Local GAAP and various company policies. This position will report to the International Controller and will also have strong interaction with the rest of the cluster controllers and global teams on projects, commercial activities, and technical accounting consultation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly and annual closing of books in a timely and accurate manner and improve the accuracy and efficiency of the process
- Understand relevant business risks, perform appropriate risk assessment, and recommend mitigation plans
- Ensure strong Corporate Governance and compliance to Corporate policies, procedures, local statutory and Baxter accounting and reporting standards
- Support International Controller on regional reporting and Global initiatives by leading and being the change agent on standardization, automation, and simplification.
- Handle accounting of inventory assets and set and control standard costs based on the standard cost system.
- Comply with all tax requirements in the region including timely filing of various tax returns and accounting for taxes.
- Collaborate with various teams across geographies supporting accounting activities in solving upstream process issues within business and ensuring the COE teams provide the right level of service to the region.
- Ensure the existence of a robust Internal Controls environment which promotes ownership and compliance to financial controls within the company through business partnering with Legal, Ethics & Compliance and Corporate Audit
- Represent the controllership on special task forces, cross-divisional teams and working groups
- Developing clear timelines, responsibilities, follow-up, and internal review processes for the business
- Build high performance teams through coaching and technical development of the Controllership team
- To work closely with Local Auditor ensuring timely closure of Statutory Audit.
- Knowledge of Secretarial and FEMA compliance
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or country equivalent). MBA and/ CPA or CA preferred.
- Demonstration of key finance competencies and qualifications and typically 10 or more years of experience.
- Strong analytical skills, decision-making capabilities and knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- Strong understanding and experience in dealing with tax authorities on tax audits and VAT filings
- Strong interpersonal skills and an effective communicator
- Ability to contribute ideas to address business issues
- Strong stakeholder management – establish and communicate expectations, motivate individuals, and provide honest and specific feedback.
- Ability to take initiative, guide and influence others toward goal accomplishment.
- Change Management Experience – ability to lead change in a complex and a highly matrix organization
