Summary:
The job holder’s primary area of responsibility includes several different aspects of FP&A data validation, FP&A System Applications Development, Support, and Maintenance. This individual will become familiar with many different monthly, quarterly, and annual financial planning & reporting processes as well as the required data management activities related to each. Additionally, there will be significant interaction with system application IT Teams, FP&A COEs, and Global FP&A finance stakeholders involved in these processes during the validation and any subsequent adjustments or updates that may be needed.
Who we are: Baxter’s FP&A Systems team manages Global Finance Systems and works closely with regional Finance Center of Excellence (COE) teams, the Global FP&A Team, and the Finance Global Design Center (GDC). Together, they determine the target state of Baxter’s Financial Planning Systems for optimal planning & forecasting cycles as well as regular operational performance reporting. Additionally, they are in charge of executing the various initiatives necessary to align strategic objectives with the global financial processes, system capabilities, and key business and IT initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing system requirements and business flows using current systems engineering methods and technologies.
- Manage the FP&A System ticket queue, appropriately investigating and resolving issues or assigning to tier 3 IT resources.
- Develop strong functional knowledge and business stakeholder relationships.
- Assist with the annual FX, walk across entries, restatements, and Cash Flow processes.
- Establish and manage governance processes around the various data submissions.
- Assist with the System Change Management processes, contributing to design, test, and validation activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert related to data flow and system integrations, assisting general finance users and the FP&A System support team with investigations, development activities, and general support.
- Provide blended technical/business support of FP&A systems that can include pulling and analyzing large volumes of data, understanding back-end database structure, and consulting on the integration of applications and reporting tools.
- Provide ongoing recommendations for system and process improvements to improve customer experience and drive down ticket volumes.
- Be part of an innovative team, advancing new ideas to automate current processes and workflows.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, comfortable navigating conflicting priorities and ambiguous problems.
Qualifications:
- Ability to articulate business rules required for data accuracy and consistency.
- Time Management and the ability to prioritize will be key, as there will be periods of higher activity related to planning & reporting cycles, creating stringent timelines for deliverables.
- Solid business knowledge & commercial acumen.
- Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing business needs.
- Excellent analytical & organizational skills.
- Strong communication, both verbal and written – this will be essential when working with customers and translating “technical” functionality into explanations for business associates.
- Act with the highest level of compliance and integrity with sense of accountability and exhibit Baxter’s Culture Levers: Speed, Simplicity, Courage, Collaboration
- Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel.
- Strong technical background/experience with SQL, Cognos BI, Alteryx, Power BI and Oracle EPM Cloud / Hyperion Planning and SmartView.
- Working knowledge of DBMS and EDM concepts is highly desirable.
- Background of ERP Systems as JD Edwards and knowledge of Snowflake architecture is a plus.
- Ability to critically review and interpret technical documentation preferred.
- Understanding or Ability to Quickly Learn financial processes related to Balance sheet, Cashflow or Manufacturing is preferable.
- Digitally savvy, able to navigate easily in a virtual world.

Education and/or Experience:
- Engineering or Computer Science Degree with a strong business background in Finance or Business Administration Degree with a strong technical background.
- Minimum 5-7 years of significant experience in a role that exemplifies the business and technical skills desired.
