Position: This position reports directly to the VP, Corporate Affairs, Kidney Care and will manage and lead the company’s Asia Pacific government relations, public policy and market development function.  This position will be involved in the company’s commercial business development, educational program development and regulatory strategies across Baxter’s Kidney Care entire Asia Pacific. 

Responsibilities:  The individual will --

  • Advise and counsel the company's executives on public policy and governmental matters, including pending legislation/regulations and policy initiatives and their potential implications to the company.
  • Develop in partnership with company executives and business unit stakeholders, the company’s government relations and public policy strategy and agenda in the Asia Pacific region to help prioritize actions and resources.
  • Participate and engage in trade organizations, non-governmental organizations and strategic industry groups that Baxter is a member in to influence legislation, regulations and public policy that affect the industry and advance the company’s interests.
  • Develop relationships with key government officials and their staff and administrative agency persons and other international organizations on issues of importance to the company such as expanding access to kidney care in the region.
  • Assist in government business transactions with Ministries of Health, Finance and other relevant government agencies.
  • Develop thought leadership and influence commercial strategies. 
  • Develop, in partnership with universities, government agencies, and thought leaders in the region as it relates to our products and services as well as education programs and symposia to improve adoption of best clinical practices.
  • Manage and balance external and internal resources.

Background/Requirements of Successful Candidate:

Graduate degree and fluency in English. We are seeking candidates with 10 years of governmental or non-governmental organization and/or trade or industry association experience and/or experience within the private sector including:

  • Knowledge and ability to appropriately influence the political/policy process, including working with and managing consultants.
  • Experience in public policy making processes.
  • Experience in developing partnerships with trade associations and other industry partners to push an agenda.
  • Formulating and implementing business development, government relations and external affairs policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze key regulatory and policy issues in light of the company’s strategic goals and to focus on those issues that advance (or could potentially inhibit) the company’s competitive business interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with internal business stakeholders.
  • Record of achievement and accomplishment.
  • Must be organized and a self-starter and comfortable working within a remote team.
