What you'll be doing:

The Sr. Operations Specialist (Contract Specialist) will be supporting the Health Care Provider and Health Care Organization engagements including driving execution of agreements for Medical Affairs global interactions in the Kidney Care business unit. Responsible for identifying the decision makers required for each agreement and ensuring contract compliance with all applicable regulations and Baxter policies. This will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Draft, analyze, negotiate, and execute a broad range of complex international and domestic grant, research, and consulting agreements.
  • Ensure compliance and fiscal integrity of outgoing agreements through consultation with Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Finance, Risk Management, and business unit leaders
  • Manage and maintain contracting positions and negotiation library (playbook) updates
  • Identify roadblocks in contracting processes and workflows, provide recommendations to keep contracting operations efficient and transparent
  • Work collaboratively with functional SMEs to improve templates, tools, and standard procedures related to medical contracting, such as standard agreement templates, negotiation checklists, and protocols
  • Deliver scheduled and ad hoc training for staff within Medical Affairs and regularly review and update training materials. Provide direction and oversight for the workload of coordinators
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and Medical Affairs conduit to key stakeholders (e.g., Legal, Risk Management, Privacy and Ethics and Compliance) and external collaborators

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 + years of prior relevant contracting experience or Masters with 3+ years of experience
  • Three+ years’ experience in healthcare contracts related role preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of federal regulations and contract management as they relate to institutions of higher education, medical centers, government, and/or industry
  • Progressively responsible experience in contracts, research or grants administration in a university or directly related business or organization.
  • Superior writing, verbal, organizational and time management skills
  • Superior customer-focus and collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead through demanding and ambiguous circumstances with professionalism and proficiency
  • Well-established knowledge in agreement types which include, but are not limited to master/umbrella, clinical trial, basic and applied research, industry, material transfer, data use, and confidentiality agreements with corporate, government, non-profit and other entities

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 to $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonus.
