Your role at Baxter

The Associate Director, Medical Affairs, Clinical Nutrition, and Pharmacy Tools is a leadership position within the Infusion Therapies and Technologies (ITT) Medical Affairs organization, US and Canada Region.  This position reports to the Director, Medical Affairs.  This position will be responsible for the Medical Affairs support for Clinical Nutrition and Pharmacy tools, as well as leading the Field Medical teams supporting these segments. This individual will be a key member of the ITT US and Canada Medical Affairs Leadership team. 

What you'll be doing:

Medical Affairs:

  • Regional Medical affairs input for new product development

  • Drive regional assessment of evidence generation gaps and subsequent evidence generation plans (working with the GBU MA teams where needed). 

  • Deliver Scientific communication plans aligned to the strategic needs of the products/devices

  • Design, manage and support advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, educational forums and organize and chair roundtable and educational meetings as needed

  • Collaborate with business partners to develop long-term strategic plans as well as Medical Affairs Plans including comprehensive thought leader plans.

  • Attend and provide scientific support at R&D exhibits and scientific sessions at regional, national, and international medical conferences. Identify and communicate new scientific findings and opportunities or threats that could impact the business.

  • Maintain medical and scientific partnership with the Global medical affairs organizations.  Ensure optimal alignment on strategies and systemic collaboration on shared interests, (like data, clinical trials, publications, tactics, literature services, ad-boards, CMEs, etc.)

  • Support the management of Grants & Sponsorships ensuring proper documentation, contracts and payment.

  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external legal and regulatory guidelines.

  • Interface with Regional and Global counterparts within Medical Affairs and commercial teams.

  • Medical Affairs review and input into proposed IIRs along with maintaining accountability for ongoing status updates of existing IIRs.

  • Participate in clinical/scientific training of sales team members and other Baxter Functional representatives.

Field Medical Affairs

  • Lead the Clinical Nutrition Medical Science Liaison team and the Pharmacy Tools Managers team.

  • Ensure appropriate plans and strategies related to:

    • KOL development

    • External engagement metrics

    • Support Baxter-funded research (IIRs, BCS, BSS)

    • Medical Education

    • Clinical programs

What you'll bring:

  • Advanced Healthcare degree with at least 5 years of clinical experience.

  • 5 years experience within the health care industry preferable.

  • Previous people leadership role within a Medical Affairs function.

  • Clinical trial experience with working knowledge of GCP desired

  • Basic knowledge of biostatistics and trial design

  • Computer literacy and PowerPoint skills

  • Comprehension of the clinical and regulatory requirements for a field-based medical organization

  • Proven teaching capabilities and understanding of adult learning concepts

  • Experience with literature review, synthesis and analysis

  • Expertise in developing clinical presentations and medical education

  • Travel will be required and will involve approximately 30% of time.

  • Must have experience in forming strong strategic alliances with business partners and colleagues and an understanding of the Clinical and Regulatory requirements in the field.  

  • Effective critical thinking skills and strategy development

  • Must have effective leadership, interpersonal, analytical and problem- solving skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and within groups in a collegial manner.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $176,000 to $242,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
