Job Summary

Baxter has long been on the forefront of developing innovative solutions for patients with kidney disease.  This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development and support of Baxter’s Renal Care System software that is related to our connected medicine strategy.

In this role, you will provide cross-functional leadership on high value projects for the System software portfolio of the Renal care business of Baxter. You will be involved from concept through implementation, delivery & post-market support; assures quality is built into the design during new product development; lead teams to deliver product objectives, drive clarity by defining/prioritizing the work, define critical interdependencies/deliverables for the cross-functional team, work with the Business and Core Team leading cross-functional work, manage program risks, deliver quality and impactful products, within budget; provide oversight for various projects and core team initiatives on routine cadence to senior management. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end Software project/program delivery, including Project plan, schedule, execution/monitoring working with SW engineers globally.
  • Work in close collaboration with Program managers, Project Leads & Architects to achieve tactical project goals & balance strategic Software organization goals.
  • Work closely with Software development teams spread globally, playing a leadership role in Software development process across products.
  • Identify project risks, control them and manage regular communication to stakeholders, ensuring thoroughness in dealing with the details.
  • Execute Software projects using Incremental/Agile/SAFe methodology.
  • Hands on experience in execution with SPI/CPI, PV/EV based metrics.
  • Be a change agent. Drive agility in organization & demonstrate sense of urgency.
  • Understands and deploys processes to assure conformance to the Baxter New Product Development (NPD) process in an expedited manner.
  • Continuously reviews program progress, proactively identify risks and collaboratively develops and drives risk mitigation efforts.
  • Interacts frequently with all levels of internal management as well as across functions and business units.
  • Will work with post-market teams to monitor and handle product issues in the installed base through the CAPA processes laid down.
  • Will be involved in identifying, selecting, managing & working with vendors of specialized skills and/or goods as is needed on projects.
  • Participates in interactions with customers and regulators concerning product design, systems and processes.
  • Identifies and manages continuous improvement projects that may span multiple sections or departments with the objective of achieving quality, reliability and cost improvements.
  • Develops long term plans for product development proposals.
  • Continuous improvement and simplification for efficient delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience in multiple capacities in Embedded Applications context with a strong understanding of the technology stack and software architectures, tools & technologies. Should have had hands-on experience and worked as scrum master / release train engineer for significantly complex projects in large organizations dealing with co-ordination across multiple functions like IT, Service, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory.
  • Highly experienced in SDLC implementation
  • Hands-on technical expertise in Embedded & software application development technologies & tools including and not limited to:
    • Real time Operating Systems
    • Embedded-C / C / C++
    • Design modelling tools like Enterprise Architect
    • FMEA process
    • Static and dynamic code analysis tools like Coverity, Valgrind, etc.,
    • Project management tools like Microsoft Project Planner
    • Defect and backlog management tools like JIRA
  • Hands on experience in using MPP – expert level.
  • Exposure to working in a Continuous Integration environment
  • Demonstrated facilitation and negotiation skills in driving closure on product/program-related decisions/issues
  • Budget management skills – Finance, resource deployment & Material tracking and utilization.
  • Strong visualization & reporting skills using latest & greatest project management & reporting tools
  • Strong presentation skills and having had the exposure to reporting out project status to senior management.
  • Vendor management skills – have had exposure working with external consulting firms delivering specialized skills and/or goods.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication/influencing/negotiation skills required
  • Sharp business, technical & financial acumen.
  • Ran projects in Waterfall/Incremental/SAFe methodology.
  • Exposure to medical device product development would be a definite plus with exposure to the following:
    • Medical standards: HL7, Medical cybersecurity
    • Medical regulatory standards: 510K, FDA/ISO
    • SDLC for medical devices

Background and/or Experience

  • Bachelors/Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Software Project/program Management involving Enterprise, IT, Regulatory, Security, product life cycle and marketing.

Desired Characteristics- PMP certification is a plus.
