Job Summary

Job Title – Lab Engineer- Sr. Engineer

Location – Whitefield, Bangalore

Shift – General

Summary of responsibilities

  • Participate in a variety of projects by conducting testing, designing experiments, independently developing/evaluating/validating and/or transferring analytical methods.
  • Analytical point of contact  of complex and/or large size projects.
  • Support the verification and validation tests (NPD & SPO) across the different business units
  • Ensures that the lab team is in compliance with good laboratory and documentation practices
  • Critically and independently review, understand and interpret test protocols, testing plans to verify product requirements and final reports
  • Excellent knowledge of ELN functionality
  • Guide lab team on ELN-related matters
  • Responsible for the coordination of samples in the lab for the assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the successful material management process in the lab and to guide team accordingly.
  • Subject matter expert and point of reference for all the test methods executed by the respective team
  • Coordinate team to keep an organized workplace (according to 6S standard).
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment. Identify and prevents hazards which could result in injuries or accidents.
  • Support the lab team and critically contribute to investigation, brainstorming and troubleshooting related to laboratory activities
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of the lab operating mechanism
  • Stay up-to-date on manipulation of testing equipment
  • Maintain a high degree of scientific and engineering knowledge
  • Assist, manage and execute various lab related projects
  • Be the link between the lab and the assigned R&D Project team to ensure smooth and timely execution of lab activities
  • Be innovative with new cutting edge technologies on test methods and on test equipment;
  • Identify areas of improvement in Lab processes
  • Effectively present info and study results to pertinent organization staff members
  • Design protocols and interprets results to validate functional test methods.
  • Design, printing and testing of new small tools

Qualifications

  • Masters’ degree in Material Science, Polymer Science/Engineering or related fields with 5+ years’ industrial work experience or Ph.D. in Polymer science/Engineering or related fields with 3+ years of industrial work experience in the Material testing domain with major focus on polymeric materials and blends
  • Strong knowledge of material science, plastics,  structure property relationship  with experience in development, validations, or investigation on analytical methods.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) plus Empower, electronic lab notebook, and Minitab.
  • Experience with cross functional/cross regional projects.
  • Execution-focused for planning/tracking/anticipating and mitigating risks/challenges.
  • Critical thinking, innovative mindset, curious, with demonstrated learning agility.
  • Team Player and active participation in the technical forums.

    Skills

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with polymeric materials’ testing methodologies, such as, FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC, DSC tensile testing etc.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and able to work on multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and documentation skills.
  • Very adept at grasping and solving complex problems using root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to objectively identify technical solutions and make sound decisions.
  • Solid computer skills: email, documentation and collaboration tools: e.g. WebEx, Teams, Microsoft Office products, etc.
  • Hands on experience in polymeric material’s testing and/or CAD/FE packages for design & analysis of polymer components is an added advantage
