Summary of Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating the power house to meet all safety requirements and meet all GMP and Pharmaceutical Quality Standards for water, steam,  air, and HVAC  systems. Maintain facilities equipment throughout the plant are in good running order.  The incumbent works a 12 hr continental night shift. Available to work summer and Christmas shut downs. Able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Operate 3-400 HP boilers, 2-air compressors, distilled water systems, 5 - distillation units,
  • Chlorinated Water System, and City Water Treatment Systems, Reverse Osmosis System complete with Ozone
  • Generation UV Ozone Destruct System, Cooling Tower System and HVAC Systems

Major Responsibilities / Activities

  • Monitor and operate Boiler Room HMI that controls the boiler area equipment.
  • Perform maintenance repairs on air, water, and steam lines and sterilizers throughout the facility
  • Perform repairs on sterilizers as required - Repair valves, pipes, and install new piping
  • Maintain daily documentation of computer readings and equipment for the area.
  • Maintain the power house and equipment to the 6 S and Perfect Equipment Standards .
  • Perform general plumbing repairs throughout plant, washrooms, laundry room, and kitchen and cafeteria areas.
  • Passivate all new and repaired stainless steel piping and equipment for the area.
  • Maintain the computerized stock / inventory systems for pipe fittings, valves, boiler room, and other related parts inventory for ongoing maintenance.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of specs and SOP for the Boiler Room related equipment
  • Operate D.W. water system, including daily sanitation / documentation, cleaning maintaining and monitoring and ensure PM’s are completed on time.
  • Chemically test boiler water according to specifications and adjust as needed.
  • Make adjustments / repairs / perform QA Required testing or filter changes on the HVAC system and monitor computerized  H.V.A.C. systems throughout plant.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the R.O. water system.  Soft water system 
  • Maintain / Monitor the Plant Fire and Security Systems. Perform monthly safety checks on fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and plant safety showers and eyewash stations. Monitor plant Security System and Acknowledge / Investigate any Alarms

Job Requirements

  • 3rd Class Engineer must hold recognized T.S.S.A. 3rd Class Engineer Certificate.
  • ability to install threaded piping systems.
  • capable of reading blueprints
  • Good knowledge of CCN HVAC systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience and proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime on short notice and available to work during shutdowns.
  • Utilize Baxter Shared Commitments
  • Proven ability to be proactive and self-motivated on the job
  • Equipment used: Boilers, Air compressors, Reverse Osmosis and distilled water systems including control panels, computers PLC Controllers, small hand tools for maintenance work, power pipe threader, Distillation Units and sterilizers. Chlorinated Water system. Water softening equipment, air conditioning and air handling systems, portable water systems, sewer / Drainage systems, and sprinkler systems.
  • Knowledge / use of self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • 1- 3 years (inclusive of required steam time) experience
