Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and co-ordinate strategically with the different Department Heads, the headcount planning and departments' staffing requirements in line with the Company's short, medium and long-term strategic plans and objectives.
  • Manage the overall Talent Management processes including the Performance Review Process, Development Plans, Organization Inventory as necessary.
  • Implement policies that attract and keep the best available resources.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to align HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Provide strategic HR advice and guidance on talent management, organizational design, and workforce planning.
  • Develop and implement HR initiatives to support the growth and development of the organization.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure the delivery of HR services that meet the needs of the business.
  • Lead and manage HR projects, including talent reviews, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Drive the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that are consistent with Baxter's values and culture.
  • Coach and mentor HR team members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and careers.
  • Implement fair and just employee communications and human resource policies with effective and consistent administration of discipline.
  • Support and administer corporate, regional and plant employee relations' programs ie. Code of Conduct.
  • Recommend to Management wage and salary adjustments and improvements in benefits that maintain the plant's competitive edge in the labor market.
  • Administer the company's compensation benefits for all levels of employees and constantly seek ways and means to improve these benefits.
  • Promote and administer the Company’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan for all Baxter employees.
  • Liaise and benchmark with local industries and other Baxter plants to maintain an attractive competitive remuneration package for all categories of all Baxter employees.
  • Make recommendations and implement measures to maintain a working environment that retains and motivates employees to attain a high level of effectiveness and job satisfaction.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition Managers on the recruitment of all Baxter Malta open positions whilst maintaining the headcount requirements as per budget and production exigencies.
  • Ensure that the advertising for vacancies; interviewing of applicants and pre-employment tests are performed as necessary; conducting of selection interviews and the formulation of employment contracts are done appropriately and in line with Baxter’s principles.
  • Maintain close working contact with all potential sources of labor supply and educational institutions to maintain a pool of potential candidates available for eventual employment in line with the Company’s H.R. strategic plan.
  • Assist the Director Manufacturing in Union/Management meetings and in the formulation, revision and implementation of collective agreements for industrial employees.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with union representatives on all matters concerning employee conditions, welfare, grievances and discipline.
  • Provide counsel and information to management and employees on the interpretation and application of policies, procedures and work regulations.
  • Coordinate the training and development of employees with the Training responsible, ensuring compliance with the Company’s strategic plans and objectives.
  • Make recommendations on the availability of European training initiatives for staff employees.
  • Coordinate and actively support the training and development of all members of the H.R. team.
  • Prepare and manage the H.R. department budget and give the necessary support in the preparation of the plants’ budgets.
  • Monitor the maintenance of all employee data and ensure data integrity in all HR info systems.
  • Monitor and do the respective checks for the preparation of fortnightly payroll for all hourly paid employees and monthly staff salaries, including monthly and annual returns for tax, N.I. and union contributions for all employees are being made.
  • Support and Coach the HR Operations Lead who oversees all day to day within HR Ops.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of both national and provincial employment law.
  • Foundational solid HR knowledge and experience in training, compensation, performance management, change management, and organizational design. Demonstrated application of those skills and partnership with HR Centers of Expertise.
  • A proven track record of disciplined action and execution in Human Resource roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with the management team and to coach and influence senior leaders' decision-making.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and listening skills.
  • Vital project and process management skills.
  • Employee relations experience: experience working with employees to roll out processes or policies, resolve issues, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict.
  • Able to question the "status quo," drives innovation, and strong level of accountability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a changing environment.
  • Solid knowledge in the development of human resources strategies
  • Leadership and creativity
  • Excellent judgment and knowledge of the business – Business Acumen.
  • Negotiation, Conflict management, as well as skills for driving change.


Education and/or Experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR and/or Management experience, with at least 3 years in a global or multinational organization.
  • Master’s degree is an asset.
