Your role at Baxter
We’re excited to bring an experienced communicator to our team to help build Baxter's reputation among key partners. You will work alongside our Global Communications team and the Care and Connectivity Solutions (CCS) business unit. With connected products across the ED, OR, ICU and Med Surg environments, our solutions empower care teams by delivering near real-time communication and information, enabling timely interventions and facilitating patient care goals.

You will be part of a Communications team that is critical to the company’s success, from engaging employees to building Baxter’s reputation in the U.S. and beyond. Our work is highly visible across the company and is at the center of every successful program, announcement and more. Your team is fun and collaborative, coming from both agency and in-house backgrounds, driven by our passion for saving and sustaining lives.
What you'll be doing
- Lead all internal and external communications for CCS division (part of the Healthcare Systems & Technologies (HST) segment).
- Provide strategic counsel to division president. Create comprehensive internal communications plans, focused on opportunities for leader to connect with the organization, establish their voice and drive visibility and alignment across the business.
- Develop overarching communications strategy for key revenue and reputation-building initiatives in the U.S. and Canada. Collaborate with WEU and Growth & Emerging Markets team for key initiatives in those areas.
- Build and manage strong relationships with division leadership team, including marketing and functional leaders.
- Lead media relations efforts to promote key initiatives for the division. Pitch and secure media placements and create key messages and other materials to assist in our response to inquiries from journalists.
- Manage communications response, working in conjunction with HST Communications lead. Provide counsel to senior leaders, drive response strategy and develop key messaging for use with employees and external partners.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, journalism, public relations, advertising, or transferrable area.
- 8+ years of experience in corporate communications or public relations. Pharma, med tech or healthcare industry and agency experience desired. Must have significant external communications experience.
- Demonstrated experience advising a senior leader who manages a complex business.
- Able to successfully develop communications strategy to meet our goals, while demonstrating measurable impact of efforts.
- Proven experience working with trade media, including in issues with significant reputational risk. Experience with product-related issues and national media a plus.
- Effectively manages relationships with internal partners, including those who are outside of Communications. Ability to manage conflicting viewpoints and help move the team to resolution.
- Strong and versatile writing skills for a variety of content types, channels and topics. Experience writing for the web and social media.
- Strong business sense to be able to understand underlying business imperatives and develop communications strategy that advances those imperatives.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated, with ability to advise others and make decisions independently.
- Flexible and agile, with the ability to quickly change course when need arises.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 - 176,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
