About Baxter Global Technical Services
Your role at Baxter
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Service Engineer to join our team at Baxter Healthcare. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between Research and Development (R&D) and global field service teams. This is a high-impact position that requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive service readiness for complex hospital installs, including software and device deployments.
What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the connective tissue between R&D and global field service teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing.
 - Apply your engineering expertise to ensure deployments are reliable, documented, and customer-ready, without focusing on writing production code.
 - Analyze complex technical issues and provide guidance to service and R&D teams as the Level 3 escalation point.
 - Write install manuals, service bulletins, and field impact reports that enable global service teams to succeed.
 - Represent Technical Services during new product development and sustaining activities Perform field service impact analysis before rollout
 - Perform field service impact analysis before rollout
 - Drive and champion Design for Serviceability (DFS) and Design for Service Revenue within product core teams
 - Analyze product/system and operational metrics and data to find opportunities for improvement and creates robust cases to pursue them.
 - Create global service plans for new product platform releases. Lead plan implementation for service training, test equipment and tool installation and validation, spare parts, and service manuals/instructions.
 - Work closely with Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, R&D, and Global Service Operations to achieve product line objectives.
 - Independently plan, schedule, and lead cross-functional teams in detailed phases of the engineering work in a project.
 - Remain up to date on new/emerging technologies; key internal expert/resource for area(s) of expertise; evaluate and recommend products/solutions in key technology areas relevant to the products/systems we support and/or their associated services.
 
What You Will Bring
- Well versed in core engineering fields, specifically software/systems engineering, configuration management, and information technology.
 - Experience with digital products, ITIL certification, and IT/connectivity expertise strongly preferred.
 - Strong understanding of design control methodologies
 - Strong background in Information Technology standard methodologies (VMs, hubs, networking).
 - Kubernetes experience and experience working in a Red Hat Linux environment.
 - Firm understanding of GMP and quality system requirements.
 - Able to work independently, collaborate with multiple partners, and effectively manage several priorities.
 - Able to communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively to all levels in the organization, including senior management.
 - Able to provide solutions that reflect understanding of business objectives and cost implications.
 - Able and willing to travel both domestically and internationally (10-20%).
 - B.S. in Engineering (Information Technology, Systems, Biomedical, and Electrical preferred, Manufacturing/Industrial and Mechanical considered) and 5 + years related experience. Advanced degree (M.S. or MBA) with 3+ years.
 - Medical device or other regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
 - Demonstrated process optimization and analytical skills (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping) is a plus.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000 to $154,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
