The Role - EHS Manager, ANZ
In this critical role you will provide an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) service across the Australian and New Zealand operations that includes implementing, recommending and co-ordinating local and corporate EHS programs and policies and regulatory/legal EHS requirements across all sites and business functions within the ANZ region.
You will drive new EHS programs whilst maintaining and developing established systems. Company operations include the main Manufacturing operation at Toongabbie Australia, multiple Warehouse and Distribution sites, multiple Pharmacies and both local and regional offices.
You are someone that will strive for continuous improvement and benchmark EHS performance and will consult the business and senior management of the performance of the EHS system and make recommendations for improvement. You will conduct and respond to Audits including ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and Australia, New Zealand regulatory compliance. This includes creating Corrective and Preventive Actions, identifying Root Causes and Close-out of EHS Findings in a timely manner. You will be the EHS Management System Representative for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits and to all relevant Regulatory bodies.
Align with the ANZ SMT (Senior Management Team) across operational and non-operational areas on key priorities and focus to drive a zero-harm workplace. Be an advocate for safety and wellness, promoting a safety culture throughout our business.
Communicate the business impacts of EHS to ANZ leadership team; coach and advise EHS employees and leadership teams on ways to improve outcome, use influence on advance EHS programs in ANZ.
Lead ANZ EHS team to plan, execute and direct EHS projects and programs designed to ensure the attainment of the company’s goals relative to EHS outcomes.
Lead teams to ensure compliance for Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability and Industrial Hygiene compliance programs and Baxter policies.
Developing and implementing site policies concerning environmental, health and safety issues. Oversee the development and implementation of EHS practices and procedures.
Evaluate and act upon new environmental & safety regulations, follows emerging EHS regulations and issues.
Monitor and direct facilities regarding all regulatory permits, including corresponding requirements, reporting and renewals
Oversee Injury Management Program
Primary contact for EHS regulatory agencies inspections, permitting, and reporting.
Execute the Baxter EHS Management system (including ISO 14001 &45001) and ensures timely corrective actions are taken when EHS hazards are identified
Workers compensation program management.
Proactively identifies potential EHS hazards through risk assessments, Gemba walks, routine inspections, near miss and hazard reporting program etc, and ensures timely corrective actions are implemented when hazards are identified. Recommend different approaches to improve and simplify existing EHS methods and techniques;
Explore digital applications and solutions to enhance the EHS service
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, and must be able to influence groups and individuals.
Excellent interpersonal skills that must focus individuals and groups on EHS objectives and generates excitement toward a common goal.
Degree in technical field, engineering, environmental, chemistry, etc. some direct EHS qualification, Masters EHS preferred.
Preferred experience in a manufacturing facility.
Experience in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Systems.
Knowledge of Australian EHS Regulations.
High degree of computer literacy.
Self-starter, driven and the ability and confidence to work independently.
Creative and proactive thinking.
Willingness to travel.
