The Senior Procurement Manager develops sourcing strategies for Electronic Components and provides leadership, strategic thinking and expertise for electronics and electromechanical categories to advance Baxter Global Business Units (GBUs) mission agenda “Sustain and Save Lives".

What you'll be doing

This role is responsible for supplier relationship management and risk assessment while developing and implementing appropriate risk mitigation plans. You will drive negotiations and contracting, develop robust category strategies that reduce supply base, reduce dependence on single/sole sourced suppliers, deliver continuity of supply, and provide for annual cost reductions. There is opportunity to deliver annual VIP (cost reductions) and PPV objectives at category and plant levels. Will work jointly, with supplier quality to address supplier quality issues timely.

Partnering closely with Baxter’s R&D organization, this individual will work to mitigate risk and continuously develop and improve supplier systems and processes. In addition, you will be responsible for leveraging technology and purchasing power to reduce the overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiation and optimization of supplier agreements.

The Procurement Manager will have overall responsibility for leading a cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity team in developing and implementing strategies and goals for assigned commodities, in support of business objectives for cycle/response time, quality assurance, technology/new product development, risk mitigation, and total cost. Will own strategies that extend through the full supply chain including primary and sub-tier suppliers.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree; MBA desirable. CPM preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in Procurement.
  • Experience in a regulated and highly technical environment preferred, such as experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial OEM, and/or Medical Device industries. Electronic and electromechanical knowledge preferred.
  • Strong decision maker surrounding multi-million dollar contracts and agreements and major policies.
  • Risk management skills required to drive innovative solutions and problem solving analysis and resolution.
  • Top-tier negotiator with knowledge of cost tools such as material breakdown, benchmarking, value analysis, value engineering, complex RFQ’s and innovative purchasing tools.
  • Strong project management skills to drive projects to closure.
  • High level technical proficiency. Engineering, Electronic or other Technical training preferred.
  • Ability to lead diverse partner interests and expectations.
  • In-depth understanding in building category strategies and sophisticated pricing arrangements and supplier profitability.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving, continuous improvement, corrective and preventative action, product quality assurance systems, and supplier performance development and evaluation is helpful.
  • Ability to travel 25-40%, including global travel.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary range of $112,000 to $216,000 and also includes an annual incentive bonus and equity target. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
