Your Role at Baxter

The Associate Director of Pre-Product Development (PPD) is a high-level leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth and innovation, improving patient outcomes, and creating significant value for Baxter Healthcare. The Associate Director of PPD will incubate and nurture a diverse pipeline of exploratory projects that have the potential to generate billions in growth, improve the infusion system, and position Baxter as a leader in the industry. The Associate Director of PPD will conduct comprehensive competitive benchmarking, lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with external partners, and drive innovation across infusion pumps, administration sets, elastomerics, associated enterprise software, and AI-based technologies.


What you'll be doing

  • Incubate and nurture a diverse pipeline of exploratory projects for Baxter’s Medical Products and Therapies, Infusion Therapies and Technologies, with the potential to generate millions in growth
  • Conduct comprehensive competitive benchmarking and characterization testing for all platforms, with a focus on identifying opportunities for improvement and differentiation
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute research and pre-product development strategies that drive growth and innovation, with a focus on generating billions in revenue
  • Collaborate with external partners to stay informed about technology trends and developments, and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the R&D team, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Manage and mentor team members, with a focus on developing a high-performing team that can deliver results and drive growth and innovation
  • Partner tightly with New Product Development Marketing and Business Development, with a focus on identifying and nurturing opportunities that drive growth and create value for the business
  • Create, effectively communicate, and deploy the strategy for the team that aligns with the overall strategic plan, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of technology and product roadmaps to Baxter’s strategic plan, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team, with a focus on developing a high-performing team that can deliver results and drive growth and innovation
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Contribute to innovation by identifying opportunities to improve the infusion system, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Ensure that new learnings from one platform are considered and applied correctly across the entire infusion system platform, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Foster a collaborative work environment with strong working relationships within and across teams, functions, and with strategic external partners, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encourage the adoption of new tools and methodologies, and promote best practices to improve the quality of product and efficiency of development processes, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Ensure that the team is focused on driving growth and innovation, with a focus on delivering results that drive growth and create value for the business, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering or a relevant field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in new development, with a proven track record of driving innovation and bringing new products to market, including AI-based technologies
  • Strong understanding of competitive benchmarking and characterization testing for all platforms, including AI-based technologies, with a focus on identifying opportunities for improvement and differentiation
  • Strong technical skills, with a deep understanding of systems engineering principles and practices, and the ability to apply them to drive growth and innovation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and drive results
  • Strategic, critical thinker, innovative problem solver, and strong influencing and communication skills, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry
  • Strong team building and talent management skills, and the ability to motivate team members to achieve goals, with a focus on driving growth and innovation, and positioning Baxter as a leader in the industry

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $168,000 - $231,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
