Your Role at Baxter
Contribute to the conceptualization, design and development of new products spanning all of Baxter global R&D teams. Must be capable of completing complex, non-routine tasks with minimal or no supervision. Required to communicate and interact with other functional areas within and outside the company using independent judgments. Must be highly proficient in the use of precision equipment typical of a rapid prototype development lab.

What You'll be doing

• Completes assigned tasks on time with minimal guidance and support.
• Proficient in a variety of measuring equipment with basic understanding of CMM device and/or 3D Scanner
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Competent in reading blue prints and also weld drawings
• Support Global Research and Development efforts in the development of concept and rapid prototype model builds.
• Safely utilize and operate a broad range of equipment such as milling machines, lathes, press brakes, shears, welders, etc. to create assemblies and prototype parts.
• Ability to do MIG inert gas welding (Hill-Rom certification in MIG welding – steel and possible aluminum).
• Experience in running CNC mills and using CAM offline machine programming
• Create DXF files for 2 axis machines.
• Basic CAD knowledge.
• Follow all department Safety rules and policies – also companywide policies.
• Ability to work with Engineers or customers to solve problems during product builds or concepts.  
• Gains experience by doing and delivering without supervision while contributing positively to team actions.
• Applies new technical tools and concepts under the direction of others.
• Works under the guidance of more experienced individuals to improve quality of deliverables.
• Perform machine maintenance (check machine fluids) and perform 5S practices)
• This role does not have supervisory responsibility.

What you'll Bring

• HS Diploma or GED required, applicable technical certification desired. 3-5+ years equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated aptitude to do close tolerance work and also a high degree of quality and finish in work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude capable of fabricating, assembling and troubleshooting mechanisms and assemblies
• Experience in plastic processes such as vacuum forming, solvent bonding, RTV molding, painting and finishing concepts or prototypes.
• Basic G&M code understanding relating to CNC machine operation and programming.
• Possess an aptitude and willingness to learn new skills and technologies
• Limited knowledge of running rapid prototype machines.
• Strong Interpersonal Skills with the Ability to work Collaboratively with others in a Team Environment.
• CAD/CAM usage preferably Solid Edge and / or Gibbs CAM.
• Thrives on Change and Adapts to Leader Initiated Changes.
• Valid driver’s license with no moving traffic violations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to lift 50 pounds – push – pull beds weighing 600 pounds or more.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $56,000 to $77,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
