Your Role at Baxter
As a part of an R&D project team, an Engineer I Codes and Standards (C&S) provides assistance to the Senior Engineer in the execution of C&S deliverables for new product development and sustaining projects. The C&S Engineer I help ensure the product designs are developed, maintained, and verified in compliance with the applicable codes and standards.
What you'll be doing
- Identify and document the standards that a product needs to meet based on understanding C&S and Regulatory implications of proposed design solution to meet compliance requirements of domestic and relevant foreign regulatory agencies.
- Detail a C&S plan for meeting compliance standards that are identified in the Design Requirement Specification including C&S verification.
- Record the certifications of the sites that will manufacture the product, including sub-contractors
- Lead the successful execution of the C&S plan for the product/projects.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including engineering, quality, internal and external labs, and regulatory affairs, to ensure that products meet or exceed industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with external team members, such as regulatory authorities and notified bodies to stay ahead of on changes and updates to industry codes and standards.
- Identify critical components within a safety report and provide redlines to a notified body for a change.
- Support Audits as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in medical devices or related field
- Experience with cross-functional teams and collaborating with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to develop and implement test systems and equipment.
- Strong understanding of IEC, ISO, AAMI medical device standards, preferred.
- Basic understanding of regulations for medical devices.
- Familiarity with textiles associated with sleep surfaces
- Able to work on multiple, competing priorities and resolve conflicts when vital.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a regulated industry
- Excellent judgment in selection methods and techniques to acquire results.
- Knowledge of different subject areas making up sophisticated systems electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, software, materials, and/or wireless connectivity
- Strong technical writing skills
- BS in Engineering or Associate’s Degree plus 2 year minimum in related field experience (in-house, co-op or acquired outside).

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $72,000 to $99,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
