Your Role at Baxter:
Baxter’s Front Line Care (FLC) business unit, part of the Health Systems & Technologies segment, is a leading provider in Intelligent Diagnostic, Cardiac Monitoring, Connected Monitoring & Respiratory Care solutions. Our mission is to save and sustain patient lives in all care environments. Our smart screening devices and diagnostic tools empower clinicians and health systems to identify and treat every patient with confidence, shortening the path to assessment and then to care.
As the Director of Payor Contracting you will be responsible for the strategic direction and contract negotiation process between Baxter’s Front Line Care division and US based Payors (Federal, State and Commercial) to ensure patient access and sustainable pricing for Baxter’s provider entities.
Your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, evaluation of contract network and gaps, developing contract and pricing strategies including product positioning against alternatives in the market, direct Payor negotiations on terms and rates, addition of new products and services to existing contracts, ensuring contracts are maintained & contract terms are met, Payor account management as well as overseeing a team of Contract professionals. Your strategic leadership and negotiation skills will be crucial in establishing and maintaining favorable contractual agreements that align with our company's objectives and regulatory requirements.
The scope of your role includes Payor contracting for a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider entity in the Respiratory product categories and an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) provider entity in the Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring product category, as well as any future provider entities in the Front Line Care division.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Develop and execute contracting strategy for Front Line Care products, including market opportunities and trends, Payor engagement strategies, product positioning, pricing and contract terms.
Lead the end-to-end Payor contracting process for existing and future product portfolio, from negotiation to execution, ensuring that all contracts meet legal, regulatory, and company standards.
Represent Baxter in Payor meeting and negotiations, with ability to negotiate terms and rates, within established company guidelines.
Develop and execute Payor Account Management process to maintain positive relationships with Payors throughout the contract lifecycle.
Resolve issues with Payors related to claims payments not matching contract terms, resulting in accurate payment of provider services.
Evaluate and advise on Payor Contract performance and profitability through regular executive Business Reviews.
Strategic thought leader regarding the Payor Contract landscape and impact on patient access, as it relates to changes in Payor networks, regulatory requirements for government contracts and contracting for new products.
Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, sales, marketing and revenue cycle management, to align and manage contract terms, scopes, and deliverables.
Oversee team of Contract professionals working to secure and negotiate Payor contracts.
Travel 25%, depending on demands of current initiatives and key meetings with both internal and external customers/stakeholders. Overnight travel may be required.

Your Team:
As the Director Payor Contracting you will report directly to the VP, Reimbursement Patient Services. You will lead a team of 4.
Your Location:
Ideal locations for this role would include St. Paul, MN, Houston, TX, Bellevue, WA, Washington DC, Deerfield, IL or Skaneateles Falls, NY. What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree is required with focus on healthcare, public health, business; Masters degree preferred.
At least 5 - 7 years of Payor Contracting experience, required, as either a Provider or Payor Contracting leader, including contract negotiation and contract management.
Prior experience in the Respiratory medical device or Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring space is ideal, including coding, coverage and Payment, DME or IDTF Provider entity types, new product launches and contracting processes, required.
Possess extensive knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, reimbursements and programs, Federal Marketplace (VA/DoD), Regional Health Plans and National Health Plans; experience working with government or commercial Payors & their decision makers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including formal presentations, to varying levels within the organization and executive leadership.
Ability to read and understand complex contract language, Payor / government regulations and policies.
Excellent negotiation and relationship building skills.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate complex situations and find innovative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative and positive team member.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $192,000 - $264,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
