Your role at Baxter

The Medical Affairs Specialist uses clinical knowledge, experience, and research skills to support the risk management activities for products on the market as well as new products being developed and commercialized in Front Line Care, Patient Support Systems, and Global Surgical Solutions.

What you'll be doing

  • The Medical Affairs Specialist performs clinical literature searches, identifies relevant literature, analyzes, and summarizes relevant articles to support sustaining activities.

  • Build and deliver clinical input into medical device technical documents supporting sustaining activities. You develop and deliver medical decisions into training documents.

  • Participate in review and update of claims matrix, communicates identification of gaps to Medical Affairs SME to facilitate development of evidence generation plan in collaboration with Clinical, R&D, Marketing, and Medical Affairs Organizations.

  • The Specialist chips in to the development and review of risk documentation within all life cycle phases of the medical device to ensure that the highest level of safety will be provided to the patient.

  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base for related Baxter Care Communication products. Understand and apply relevant policies and procedures (ie, ISO-14971).

  • You will be collaborating with cross-functional partners.

What you'll bring

  • A degree in nursing or other clinical field experience with relevant bedside experience is required.

  • At least 2 years of acute adult primary care, medical surgical, or related clinical experience work is required.

  • Experience using medical devices in many care environments and a shown understanding of the standards of care, workflows, and clinical risk management for those care environments.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with ISO 14971 preferred but not required.

  • Travel required domestic and internationally up to 20%.
