Role: Junior Industrial Automation Engineer

Location: Lessines, Belgium

Mission:

Be a key driver of smart manufacturing at Baxter Lessines. As an Industrial Automation Engineer, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of automated production systems - supporting 24/7 operations that deliver life‑saving solutions worldwide.

What You Will Do:

  • Automation Support & Troubleshooting

    • Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks

    • Participate in corrective and preventive maintenance activities for automated systems

  • Programming & Integration

    • Contribute to PLC and HMI modifications

    • Assist in commissioning new equipment and performing functional tests

  • Continuous Improvement

    • Support improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime and improving OEE

    • Help collect data and perform simple analyses to identify improvement opportunities

  • Documentation & Compliance

    • Assist in preparing validation protocols and reports (IQ/OQ) following GxP standards

    • Ensure work complies with safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines

  • Project Involvement

    • Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering functions

    • Contribute to project planning activities

  • On‑Duty Call Rotation

What You Will Bring:

Education & Experiences:

  • Master's degree in Automation.

  • 0–5 years of experience in automation or industrial maintenance

  • Exposure to manufacturing, utilities, or pharma/biotech environments is a plus

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of:

    • PLCs (Siemens and/or Rockwell).

    • HMI/SCADA concepts.

    • Industrial sensors, actuators, and instrumentation.

    • Electrical schematics or automation drawings.

    • Industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop expertise in automation.

  • Analytical mindset and basic problem‑solving skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to take initiative and ask questions when needed.

Languages required:

  • French C1 mandatory

  • English B1 mandatory, B2+ is a nice to have
