Your Role at Baxter

The Superintendent position is responsible for directing the daily activities of the facilities and/or critical systems maintenance teams, external (3rd Party) contractors (soft services, security, etc.). These responsibilities as well as others could include setting priorities, assigning work, being a technical resource, personnel development and working with other departments and contractors for meeting specific goals or project timelines. This position will ensure the Team is maintaining compliance with current good manufacturing practices (GMPs), good documentation practices (GDPs) environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and any other regulations that could apply.

Cleveland’s technology and automation is innovative. It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles, glass IV, and various reconstitution devices. This facility produces a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling, injection molding, tubing extrusion, and device assembly.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide technical expertise and direction to the staff of a 24-hour / 7 day a week operation.
  • Provide training where necessary for personnel to develop as a well-balanced work team.
  • Provide support to maintenance staff whenever necessary.
  • Develop and implement modifications and improvements to existing equipment.
  • Assist in the procurement and installation of new equipment.
  • Interact professionally with management, staff, plant personnel, vendors and outside contractors.
  • Develop and maintain spare parts inventory for all areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure maintenance conformance with SOP and specifications.
  • Supervise plant/department construction and capital improvement projects.
  • Provide necessary resources to ensure the success of the plant 6S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Responsible for achieving all due dates on assigned projects.
  • Must have knowledge of both plant and department environmental health and safety regulations and follow regulations accordingly.
  • Must perform all other duties and responsibilities as determined by supervision / management.
  • Learn, understand, and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Engineering or Technology or at least 10 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum (5) years of experience in Facilities or Critical Systems maintenance with leadership responsibilities.
  • Should be capable of supervising complex maintenance and repair tasks, i.e. machine overhauls.
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written.
  • Proficient computer software skills.
  • Understanding of MSOffice products and enterprise-level systems (Coupa, Maximo, etc.).
  • Ability to push, pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to lift above the shoulder up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to bend/stoop.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to reach above the shoulder.
  • Ability to meet confined space entry requirements.
  • Ability to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Ability to work in unfavorable conditions (hot/cold temperatures).
  • Audiometric testing and hearing protection are required.
  • Ability to work in high places off the ground.
  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods.
  • Must meet the Baxter Cleveland Visual Acuity requirements.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position $96,000 - $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
