Your role at Baxter

The Facilities Manager is responsible for consistently maintaining the 855,000 sq ft CRT facility, including 31,000 sq ft of cold chain technology including cooler, freezer and blast freezer while complying with all regulatory standards & expectations. The expectation is always meet or exceed the needs of operation, through effective & timely execution of the preventative maintenance programs, immediate response to equipment failures, ensuring that repairs are cost effective and performed in the most effective & timely manner possible. Promotes the spirit of continuous improvement and growth within the department, at all times.

Accountable for Strategy Development and Budgeting of overall maintenance budget spending of $1 million annually.  Ownership of maintenance functions associated with Laser Guided Vehicle solutions/implementations of $5 million investment responsibilities include but not limited to facilities and equipment maintenance. Reporting directly to this role will be a Team Lead and 7 Maintenance Technicians across 3 shifts of Operations.

What you'll be doing

  • Monitor and manage PM schedules for:Office and break areas.

  • DC facility and grounds 

  • 90 interlocking dock doors and dock plates

  • Each area of the cold chain facility

  • 120-unit fleet of reach trucks, dock stockers, sit down lifts, etc.

  • 50-unit fleet of golf carts, maintenance carts

  • 13 Laser Guided Vehicles (LGV’s)

  • 3 automated induction lines for LGV

  • Wastewater tank farm

  • Manage and coordinate facilities-related tasks to ensure that all work/projects are completed within time, cost, and quality constraints.

  • Review and provide recommendation for award of construction contracts; ensures the effective use of material, equipment, and personnel in sustaining the facility infrastructure.

  • Support and / or own Capex initiatives and deploy key strategies for building improvements.

  • Primary point of contact and relationship manager for external vendors and service providers.  Ability to work with multiple contractors and vendors to schedule repairs, service, as well trouble-shoot security, fire, janitorial services, and other facility compliance-related systems, including performing contractor EHS training and project management.

  • Owning and managing short term capital projects budget associated with updating current fleet of Powered Industrial Vehicles with enhanced safety features and proximity controlling technologies.

  • Primary contact for annual risk management inspections and associated client audits/inspections, including hot work permits, facility sprinkler system maintenance, testing and impairment programs.  Responsible for audit report responses and coordination of closing associated action items in a timely manner.

  • Creating and Managing budgets for the design and maintaining of a regulatory compliant pest control program, including reporting monthly data/trends. Initiating and completing corrective actions related to pest control in a timely manner.

  • Support client and regulatory audits on pest control, housekeeping and facility subject matter, CAPA closeouts and audit responses, as needed.

  • Assists EHS Manager to implement and maintain a waste management program across the facility, including categorizing waste, storage and disposal, inspections, record keeping and reporting, and other compliance activities required to meet local, state & federal environmental regulations. Monitors, tests, and manages wastewater tank system.

  • Develops and implements a fire protection management program, including periodic inspection, monitoring and maintenance of the system, facilitate audits/ inspections with risk insurers and clients, close open actions in a timely manner.

  • Provides technical expertise and resources, cooperating and coordinating with all facility departments:  Production, Engineering, Technical services, Quality, Human Resources, Inventory, and Operations.

  • Interviews, hires, coaches, motivates, develops, recognizes, and manage performance of direct reports. Ensures team members' adherence to all environmental, health and safety SOP’s, equipment, policies, and procedures, including any department specific requirements.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 10+ years of combined experience as Maintenance/Facilities Supervisor or related field 

  • Minimum 6 years’ progressive management experience required.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific, technical, and statistical reports and journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings/blueprints and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write and effectively present information to groups and Senior Management.

  • Requires moderate understanding of financial performance reports.

  • Proven track record of interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interface well with other departments and lead effectively and efficiently in a team environment.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000.00 - $143,000.00 USD annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
