What you'll be doing

  • Manage process engineers, Automation team, critical systems and Facilities with 15 direct reports.
  • Create and maintain an environment where team members experience personal and professional growth and become a more self-directed team through regular feedback and coaching
  • Responsible for ensuring project implementation, and improvements are executed in a timely, efficient manner to support plant goals of OEE, Project Deadlines, safety, quality, and cost
  • Responsible for overall management (including multi-million-dollar budgets) of project timelines associated with generating equipment design specifications, procurement, design of experiments, factory acceptance testing, installation, coordination of validation activities, standard operating procedure (SOP) generation, and implementation in functional areas
  • Provide review and approval of Engineering Work Orders, Master Change Controls, Exception Reports, Technical Summaries, Validation protocols, expense approvals and Capital Requests.
  • Lead the capital planning process and create business cases and CER’s as required for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Establish project requirements, vendor contracts, design and implementation plans in conjunction with other plant stakeholders.
  • Oversee and develop capital equipment budgets, value improvement projects and equipment/process optimization
  • Ensure departmental compliance with change controls and validation protocols.
  • Utilize Lean principles to manage the successful completion of departmental tasks within the boundaries of safety, quality, time, and budget.
  • Provide guidance, support, direction and leadership through positive interactions with plant team members, building synergies across value streams
  • Ensure team skills are optimized through cross-training, mentorship, and in-depth performance management and development planning
  • Ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive energy management improvements to reduce cost and improve sustainability
  • Maximize the effectiveness of internal and external resources (business unit and cross-business unit) to meet business objectives.
  • Manage technical resources across the facility including Facilities Engineer, Stationary Engineers, Chief Stationary Engineer, Industrial Programmers.
  • Ensure quality and regulatory compliance through the CAPA process in support of Operations, as well as ensuring a compliant and efficient Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Plan, Develop and Implement New Plant / Equipment Installation Projects
  • Support the capital planning process and create business cases and CPA’s as required for presentation to senior leadership
  • Establish project requirements, vendor contracts, design and implementation plans in conjunction with other plant stakeholders.
  • Assist with process improvements that will require specification creation or change requests, software changes, and modification to any process.
  • Monitor Energy Costs of the Plant (Cost Of Steam, Water, Electricity and Gas Consumption)
  • Partner with quality to develop or modify Product Release Documentation (Sanitization Reports and HVAC Reports)
  • Provides strategic planning leadership by setting strategies and priorities based upon anticipate Planning building maintenance and operational programs. Ensuring the efficiency of all building systems. Preparing operating reports and budgets. Ensuring all processes and compliance programs are met.
  • Ensuring all utility systems are inspected and in accordance with regulations
  • Identify, develop, evaluate and participate in solutions, as required for VIPs, process and productivity improvements, system/facility upgrades, quality/regulatory and EHS. Provide solutions and costs for future budgets.
  • Overseeing all building functions, provide support in investigation process to resolve production and support services. Recommend alternatives and potential modifications.
  • Lead Lean Energy Program at the plant level and application of industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Coordinate building security and Janitorial services

What you'll bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Engineering/Sciences
  • Experience leading an Engineering group within a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Project engineering/management from design to implementation
  • Experience in leading diverse technical resources across a complex organization
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, developing and leading a team of technical people
  • Minimum of 8 years’ technical leadership (e.g. Engineering, Maintenance, Operations) and project management experience in a highly regulated environment
  • High degree of innovation, skill and proficiency in various broad phases of engineering
  • Ability to manage through a matrix environment to achieve results in a timely manner.
  • Process oriented and customer focused.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, negotiation skills, ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities to their successful completion.
  • Ability to develop and adhere to budgets.
  • Ability to coach direct reports and facilitate cross-functional meetings to collaboratively problem solve to achieve results
  • Passion for innovation, safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • Ability to organize and present technical and project mgt overviews without assistance
  • Knowledge of GMP manufacturing.
  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • People management experience including the ability to motivate and mentor

Preferred:

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science or Business
  • Project management certification
  • Blueprint Reading
  • PLC/Instrumentation
  • AutoCAD
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, Project Management
  • Experienced in leading continuous improvement projects
  • Lean Green/Black belt
  • More than 5 years’ engineering leadership experience in a related environment
  • Understanding of Heat and Mass Transfer
  • Understanding of Fluid Mechanics
  • Knowledge of PLC programming; good understanding of equipment automation
  • 6 Sigma Certification
  • Significant project engineering/management in healthcare manufacturing
  • Process Engineering experience
  • Clean Room Design experience
  • HVAC including Hepa filtration
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies

Pay Transparency & Compliance Language

We understand that compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated salary range for this position is $147,200 - $197,200 annually, which reflects base salary as well as estimated target payout under the Management Incentive Compensation Plan. Individual pay will be determined based upon skills, expertise and experience, and the incentive, which is contingent upon company and individual performance outcomes.
